Billytea, I'm so sorry. I keep catching glimpses of the news--globally--I can't take more than glimpses, and I'm just horrified at the state of your country. Are you and all of yours safe? For now and the foreseeable future?
Well I appreciate that. We're ok - some of Sydney's outer suburbs are potentially at risk, and the city has serious smoke haze right now. But Melbourne (where I live) isn't currently threatened. The worst we've had is some air quality trouble - partly smoke, partly thunderstorm conditions and partly excess pollen. One of Ryan's classmates, who has asthma, was hospitalised on Wednesday. (He's fine now.)
Oh! Speaking of Ryan, he's decided to run for school captain. He's in Year 6 next year, and four boys and four girls will serve as captain (one of each per term). There's a vote among his classmates, apparently. He'll give a speech next week, which he's submitting today for teacher vetting. He wrote it all himself, and I have to say I think it's very good. He talks about how much he's received from the school, and he'd like the chance to give something back. He notes times he's represented the school already, and promises that he will be fair, even if it means standing up to his friends. (I believe him too; I've seen him do it before.)
But GUYS!!!! THE SIGN ON MY DOOR IS GONE!!!! I PASSED INSPECTION!!!! I AM NOT HOMELESS!!!!!
Fuck yes! You did it! I'm so proud of you.

I'd vote for him in a millisecond.
Thanks everyone. I'm feeling so guilty. She had no symptoms until last night other than a cough at night that her doctor had told me was just post nasal drip a couple of weeks ago and general crankiness. No fever, which I was checking often.
The hyper attitude is mostly bothering me because I want her to rest and get better.
Thanks everyone. I'm feeling so guilty.
Pfft. Matilda had walking pneumonia for like two months and wasn't properly diagnosed until the third doctor visit. Don't feel guilty.
nevermind - addressed offline.
It happens SJ. My nephew had mono and cor lost of the time he was sick my brother thought he was exaggerating or making it up to get our of school. My nephew would feel bad in the morning and them feel better later in the day, which turns out to be typical of mono. By the time E was diagnosed he was almost over mono.
Gudanov! Thank you so much for checking in! I'm sorry everything is too much right now - it means a lot that you came by.
Amyth! I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I hope that should a time come when the weariness hits like a wave you'll remember how many people are thinking about you pretty much all the time and that gives you a little oomph for a second or two.
