I, too hope your brothers friends call 911. I wish I could fly there for you and call because I am terrible at everything about adulting except calling 911! I have called for two slip and falls outside my house, a man having a heart attack in front of me, my neighbor having a fire and a very low pulse homeless man passed out on a curb by the bus stop. I think it sometimes helps to have a complete stranger make the decision, because I have had a hard time calling for myself.

Msbelle- I want to do the charitable gift but I was paralyzed coming up with charities. I am good with whatever we come up with, but I couldn't finish the form because I have no good ideas or time to research Will we have the opportunity to give even if we don't fill out the form?

msbelle, I don't want to add to your burden, but I'm unable to pick a charity, either. I trust the judgement of Buffistas, and I will contribute to whichever charity(ies) is chosen. Just tell me who to make out the check to. I take orders good.

Insomnia update: (1) Ooops, I crossed the streams with my last post — I had been posting about my brother's relapse in Bitches, not here. But most of us read both threads, right? And (2) When I went to bed at 11:00 (9:00 Colorado time), there was no further update from my brother's friends, other than to say that Friend 1, who had been there most of the day, was going home but her partner (Friend 2) was staying with my brother overnight and was going to keep trying to get my brother to go to the hospital. Friend 1 gave me her partner's cell number and gave him mine, but I haven't gotten any further updates.

I don't know how much they've been able to communicate with my SiL (phone or text), because she's been in Costa Rica ( t edit and also Colombia?) for work. She does get home this evening (Saturday). What a shitshow to come home to. God.

I've been up since 5am on a Saturday. Such is the life of a figure skating fan. I'd go back to bed for the ice dance competition, but I've coffeed already this morning.

I have my Thanksgiving weekend schedule. 3:0 PM to 1 am Thanksgiving. 1 PM to 10:30 Friday and fucking 9:30 am to whatever on Sat. I live about 25 minutes from work. I am going to see if there is anyway that can be changed especially since it's my 2nd Friday night/Sat morning in a row.

I am willing to work nearly 10 hours each of those days just not close and then open.

Please I am begging all of you if anyone you are spending Thanksgiving with talksabout going shopping please try to talk them out of it.

Remind them that there are people working 10 or more hours ON Thanksgiving and many at minimum wage or just above it. Some will only get a half hour break that during their shifts. Also to be nice to anyone working that weekend and stand up for employees if other customers are bullying them/berating them. Often retail employees can't do anything or say anything and some store managers will just side with the customer no matter what.

If this Black Friday weekend is like last year at my store there will be customers who cuss out employees, throw merchandise AT employees, insult us or deliberately try to make our job harder.
