Tired beyond words from travel involving trailer issues and a very long day. Instead of making it home we are in Savannah. Anyway the day ended with sweetness. We went to Ruby Tuesday for dinner and I asked the waitress to ask the chef if there was some dog treat appropriate scraps to be had for a super patient doggo. She brought me out a couple cups of chopped ham!! Skinner is very happy.

Just spoke to my parents who were at a Yoga Camp this weekend (embracing the California cliches) and that list power last night, and they got to drive home through a lot of outages h by at all the other drivers were apparently reasonable and sensible and then there was a fire near their house but the evacuation zone didn't quite reach them and nii I w their power is even back on. And they told me that there's a 1000 acre fire near me which I hadn't even heard about, but I'm upwind of it. Too much excitement.
Aw, Skinner.
Yesterday was chock full of relatives—Mom and I met my visiting aunt and uncle for lunch on their way to take another of my aunts on a trip to Branson, then drove to Memphis for my cousin's birthday party with most of the closest branch of the family on Mom's side in attendance. Also got to see my cousins' house for the first time (very cute!).
Today has been mostly sleeping in and running errands, but I finally got the internet hooked up to my TV so I can watch Netflix and Amazon Prime on the big screen. Informal Halloween party is a go! (Still can't get the WiFi working like it's supposed to, but that was my secondary purpose in buying the router, and I have access to free albeit slow WiFi downtown.)
Fire bad.
I'm unreasonably angry that 45 is coming to Chicago tomorrow. He's gonna fuck up traffic and I need to do a rental pickup during the day.
I'm also trying to decide if I want to go to a concert tomorrow (Poi Dog Pondering and Thievery Corporation) after an 8am start to the work day and about 5 hours to kill in between.
I have electric power down here in the flatlands of Hayward. Also we have a choking pall of smoke that reached us at about 3:30 pm, so all the windows are closed. I can't believe how thick and stinky the air is right now. Thankfully the temperature has dropped. I hate to think how awful it would be in here if it were 80.
The wind event knocked down a lot of my trees in pots and eventually I figured out safer places to stash them awhile. This is not a terrible problem when thousands of people are evacuating and the county shelters are beyond capacity.
My stepmom lost power and it is really too bad Dad's not here to see her through. I still catch myself thinking about how I need to talk to him.

The AMA office is across the street from Trump tower, and they're pissed that he's having a fundraiser there this week. The freelance manager said they might just close the office that day. (And the AMA never, ever closes — when the Cubs won the World Series, it was a big fucking deal that the AMA gave everyone 1 free hour at lunch to go to the parade/rally/whatever it was. So closing the office entirely is shocking. But sensible.)
My power just came on, woohoo!
Our canyon is on the list for possible power shutdown overnight, the winds have started blowing. Thankfully even if it does happen, we can run pretty much completely off grid now.

Yeah, and he's talking to a convention of police chiefs at McCormick place before that. So everything between them is hosed.
