It's good to have cargo. Makes us a target for every other scavenger out there, though, but sometimes that's fun too.

Herding cats for fun

I've been wanting to crop my locks for awhile, but now that I know about zombie hairdressing, nothing else will satisfy.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

askye, do you have a beauty college nearby? The past couple of times I've gone to one really close to my house and paid $11 for a haircut. Nothing complicated, and the second time it took like 2 hours, which is nuts, but it was still $11.

I second this advice. There used to be a beauty school in our neighborhood, and I would occasionally go there to get my hair dyed when I didn't want to deal with contorting my arms to evenly apply the color at the back of my head.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

But are you a zombie?

I am not a zombie myself, but I do serve the local zombie community.

They don't mind if they lose a little ear when I'm trimming.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I went to someone new at my usual place who said something similar, suggesting that it was my cowlick's fault that she couldn't get the back right. (I'm 52. People have managed to cope with that cowlick for decades now.) Next week's appointment is definitely not with her.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm wondering whether going to an actual barbershop might be a better choice?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S would not go to sleep until well past his bedtime, and then woke up early and was acting out all morning. The afternoon was a little better, as we went to a Pumpkin Festival at a local orchard where he could run around, climb on stuff and play on a bounce pad.(Basically a bounce house base.)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Katie, do you still have your ponytail? You have the most gorgeous hair! (I've always been a little jealous) Mine has finally--finally! started to fade to grey a little. I'm ready to strip it to white, ITYW. But how trite would dark roots be?

EM decided to do this and it was a big mistake. If your hair is still holding on to color it will be loath to let it go, and you'll have to double strip your hair to get it to white. At which point it will be fried.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've had a few coworkers with the true platinum dye job, and I always think it looks great.

Yeah, my hair's so spiderwebby fine and a lot thinner than it used to be, so I'm thinking I'll just stick to color rinses and things and avoid harsh stuff like strippers. It was a...an empty threat. An idle wish.

It's been raining unrelenting for four days and they're predicting four more. I know, PNW. But geesh, DST goes away next week... I'm never gonna see sun again.

I know, kvetch, kvetch, kvetch. Something cheery... Oh! I'm going through my tarot and culling decks/sets to sell. And finding things I'd forgotten I had! It's almost like new-to-me stuff! Better than shopping, because no money spent!
