Our wings are not tired.

Drinks are a much better plan. I may do that later. Work remains overwhelming. Step-dad is back in the hospital, but I think his heart flip flops are likely due to one of his closest friends dying rather expectantly. He is super fragile emotionally. Was glad to see sister step up and go visit him.

Best news is I have super shiny fun nails. Went to just get a boring polish change because I was bringing a big bunch of clothes to my SIL to send to the Bahamas with her SIL. She had this new stuff (new to me anyway) called cat eye. There is metal in the polish and she takes a magnet to make a streak across the middle of the nail. Fun stuff. Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Laura, magnetic polish? I have some ... I've never been able to make them come out the way they're supposed to, though.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I just got a text: "Hi! It's [name] from [place]! We're doing free [service you're actually interested in] at [time you can't make] and [time that you totally could]. Which time works for you?"

Is it weird that I'm ready to ignore the opportunity for this free service just because I really don't want to reward this level/type of pushy salesmanship?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Nope. Not weird.

I appreciate the validation, Dana.

I'm still torn.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is a real dilemma.

Nice nails, Laura! That's fun.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yesterday Mr. S's behaviour at home and at school was awful. He's been suspended again. He also got hold of scissors and cut the cord for my mouse, and both cables for my printer. Is it bad that I'm looking forward to work tomorrow so I don't have to deal with him much?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Is it bad that I'm looking forward to work tomorrow so I don't have to deal with him much?

Nope! Totally normal parenting impulse.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

So this whole "we're going to cut the power off but we don't know when" thing is extremely frustrating.

The best part is that despite knowing for days that this would happen, PG&E's website with the maps and schedules went down under the strain, and they still haven't put the new one up. Their PR is SHIT.

... hmm, now it looks like the blackout will be at midnight. Fun.

Off to plug in devices and make sure there's a flashlight next to my bed...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

If I were a customer, I'd be burning effigies in front of PGE HQ. They had HOW LONG before fire season to get this done?

Sheryl, so sorry for the current travails. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.
