No. And yes. It's always sudden.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

And a package sent to Robert De Niro's ... restaurant, I believe.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

I feel like the number of people who had packages sent to them grew really quickly since the initial report yesterday. It is freaking scary.

Yeah, I was listening to 1A on NPR earlier, and they kept saying things like "This situation may very well change before the end of this broadcast." When they said it the first time, I thought, well, that's just CYA in journalism. But they said it 3 times in the first 15 minutes, which made me think that they had information that they couldn't report yet because it wasn't verified by a credible source.

I never imagined there would be such an enormous shift in policy, mood, and everything else practically overnight.

I hated Bush and Cheney. Loathed. But the GOP in Congress wasn't this openly evil back then, right? And ordinary citizens weren't this openly bigoted/fascist/violent, right?

This really does feel like the wrong timeline.

It seems as though people who felt constrained to keep their nastiness out of sight now feel free to bring it out in the open. There was a news report about a woman on a plane who was being groped by the main in the seat behind her ... he said that Trump had said it was OK to grope women. JFC.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Right, Amy? Smash all the power centers just in case.

Because books.

Smashing power centers is what I want my new mission in life to be.

In added insult to injury, a parent volunteer at Career Day told Sara yesterday that she looked "like a daddy's girl." I'm still composing the letter to the principal, but I have to keep stopping to redact all the curse words.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Sometimes I do think back to election day 2016 and wonder if we got Anya'd. I never imagined there would be such an enormous shift in policy, mood, and everything else practically overnight.

Remember a couple of months (weeks?) after the election they found that black sarcophagus? I said smash its amulet and NOBODY LISTENED. (I mean, you guys did, but the archeologists just straight-up ignored ALL THE SIGNS.)

FB keeps showing me "two years ago today" posts and they are pure emotional torture.

Head explodes! Good luck writing a civil letter.

This

I'm headachey and grumpy. DH is doing construction work, which is good, but it involves jackhammers and saws and vacuums, and NOISE. This is not helping the general world gone mad head explodey stuff.

In good news, my sister's kidney report shows her at 33% function which moves her from stage 4 to stage 3 kidney disease. This was very encouraging and helpful news. It makes it a lot easier for her to follow the strict new rules in her life when it is helping. Now if I can talk her into trying acupuncture for non-pharmaceutical pain relief that would be better since quality of life with no allowed pain meds pretty much sucks for her.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

That's good, Laura. And if I couldn't take any pain meds, I would for damn sure be trying acupuncture or anything else that had a chance of working.

Megyn Kelly update: Fired! Probably still getting paid a buttload of money. Upset that other people can apparently talk about blackface and it's FINE but she insists Jesus is white ONE TIME and no one ever lets you forget it.

Maybe CBD, too? I take it for anxiety, but I know people with chronic pain who say it helps with that.

Our wings are not tired.

That's a good idea too, Steph. She also has serious anxiety issues. This kidney situation has her more open to alternatives than she was previously.
