Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
People getting things done! You're all making me tired. I must nap. On my fainting couch, while being fanned by pretty young people. In my dreams.
As for humor, there's always I Haz a Sweet Potato. I could try to find the alien in the Torchwood tower, but that ship has probably sailed.

I love that one so much. Dogs, man.
Rosemary has a handyman coming over to do a couple tasks, one of which is to put up a fence/gate combo in the corner of the backyard so that it will be dog-impermeable when she gets a dog. That involves cutting down some small trees and digging up roots and all that. So I helped the handyman, along with his tween daughter (who is damn handy by herself) and did rather a lot of lugging and cutting and priming the wood for the fence.
While in theory I could dig up roots myself, I've never mixed cement or put in a fence post or any number of other medium difficulty tasks, so I get to learn a little and help things move along.
But boy, am I tired after just three hours or so this afternoon.
I've been home for a couple of hours doing little more than sit on the couch giving the dogs time to decompress and as I look around I see more than my new house can hold. Lots more to get rid of.
The main nurse that has been there with us has been absolutely wonderful. He is off for the next few days so I won't see him gain. Before he left he pushed through mom's remove transfer by just moving her into the room so it would get done AND got her to the shower. And found her shoes that got left in the old room.
Sometimes it took him a bit to get to mom it he waa giving the same attention to the other patients.
Mom really wants to do something to thank him but I am not sure of you can give something to a nurse. I don't know who to ask either.
So I thought I'd ask the hivemind
Good nurses are worth their weight in gold! I don't know what I'd suggest for a gift, but a nice note to his boss should be appreciated.
I did get the pedicure! I also cleaned the bathroom sink and toilet and cut down a bush outside, so that feels like plenty.
I got my hair cut, went to Trader Joe's, went to Staples, and put gas in the car. And then I kind of loafed for the rest of the day. We ordered Thai carry-out for dinner (yes, I know I went to Trader Joe's today and therefore we had food THAT IS NOT THE POINT) and finally watched the last Veronica Mars episode.
I never did mow the lawn, which means I have to do it tomorrow. It's September, man. The lawn can stop growing.
I am currently flumping with Matilda and a martini and GBBS after a day of cleaning, culling and organizing. I think I've vacuumed the living room four times? Maybe five?
David has cooked approximately a frillion meals since last night and hauled a bunch of stuff to Goodwill (with yet more to come), we've both gone running and done our daily exercises, and everyone here is completely knackered except Matilda, who spent the morning moping in bed because she didn't have any friends to hang out with and the afternoon hanging out with a friend.
This is the second or third Saturday like this in a row. I really need a weekend one of these days, but it'll be at least two or three more before I get one.
These are two properties near my new place that I think someone here should buy.:

There is one for sale less than a block from me that needs a lot of updating/work, so I am not linking to it.
