It's like he's never met me and the icy water that runs through my veins.
Maybe he can fashion some sort of rudimentary lean-to out of his vaping kit and game console?
oh god Matt, THANK YOU! That made me laugh out loud. I had slipped into tears and all the worst parent in the world thoughts. I needed that.
You're welcome msbelle! You haven't done anything about the housing situation that you didn't give Mac plenty of notice about, right? As a newly minted adult, he's going to have to come to terms with the fact that making his own decisions involves consequences as well as freedom and fun.
What Matt said. And knowing exactly what he needs to do to have a safe harbor with you — it's not like you are saying he can't come with you; you are saying, "This is what you need to do to come with me," and he is choosing not to take those steps. I think those kind of gentle, firm reminders are so key. I love you, I want you to be safe and happy, but I also need to protect my own safety and happiness. If you do X and Y, you can come live with me. If you don't, this is the consequence of that choice.
Really right you guys. There's no way Mac should be surprised since he's made no plans about where he's going to plug in his vape and game stuff.
I hope he doesn't present himself to the grandparents.
What Pix said. He's making his choices, you're not asking him to become Amish or something. And if he has a cell surely he can look up a shelter on google or something. Good grief, guilt trip much.
It was a quiet night.
Thank goodness his grandparents are gone for a week and he does not have keys to their house or their garage code.
Well, crap. I forgot I had a jury duty summons for today and was supposed to call in last night and now I'm at work and the card with my badge number is at home. Argh.
