Yeah, I have enough friends and acquaintances in the vicinity of Mar-A-Trumpo that I can't actually wish that it get a direct hit.
Today I went and signed a CORI application for the Youville House Assisted Living driving (and et cetera -- lots of etc there) job, so if I pass (and it would be really damn surprising if I didn't) I'll be starting in a week or so. Given that I managed to both screw up my father's name and my own address on the application, I think I'm kind of excited about it.
What is CORI, Theo? Hooray for new job!
CORI is a background check that you have to pass in order to work with children, the elderly, basically anybody the law considers vulnerable. Stands for Criminal Offender Record Information.
Huh.. I did not know it was a MA thing:

Along with Laura, my dad, my cousin L, and my friend T all live directly in the path of this storm, and my dad literally put his house on the market yesterday. I'm really, really hoping the storm veers off and loses force.
Yeah, as much as the thought of Mar-a-lago being walloped has a certain biblical appeal, hurricanes aren't precision events. The collateral damage is too widespread. I'd just as soon see the whole thing move out to sea.
I went out and ran errands I was putting off till the weekend, then came back and went to bed because being out in the full sun on a 90 degree day makes me ill.
I needed to get them done early, though, because the big college football rivalry game of the state is in my town tonight, and the roads are not going to be a place to be.
I packed 3 boxes of books tonight. It's way too early to be packing, but I want to get rid of two book shelves and I culled books while starting to clear them.
I also bought a new piece of luggage.
I still have nervous energy to spare and my brain in CONVINCED that today is Friday.
I guess I should go take a shower, have some calm powder in some tea, and put on a meditation podcast to get to sleep.
Tomorrow we do this all again.
I am hoping the hurricane avoids everyone.
I'm so excited for you msbelle. I'm looking forward to pictures of you in your home and also hearing about you in Baltimore.
Exciting, msbelle!!
Sadly, it started pouring rain right around when my birthday party was supposed to start. So although 25+ people had RSVP'd yes (and another 10 or more "Maybe") and I usually get a LOT of people at my parties, this time there was maybe 10 total. Good friends, so that was nice, but still kind of a bummer (especially since I made three dozen cupcakes! And many of the 10 people don't eat gluten or dairy!)
But this weekend will be a big party which I hope will be fun. Nervous.
Definitely do not need anyone to be in a hurricane. Maybe a tornado, those are more precision and could hit a certain resort without damaging much else, in a biblical show of wrath type thing.
