The FBI thing is such bullshit. Especially with all the rumors that Gulliani's friends in the FBI have been intentionally leaking "suspicions" about Clinton to the press. (And the leak that Comey chose not to say anything a few weeks ago about Russian's attempts to interfere with our elections because he didn't want to interfere with the election.)

ION, after melting my brain the last few days reading Consumer Reports, Edmunds and a bunch of sites I can't even remember anymore and poring over TrueCar and CarGurus for hours on end, I've contacted dealers about a 2012 Honda Accord and a CPO 2016 Hyundai Elantra that were both in my price range.

The Elantra's a little smaller than I'd like, but one of my co-workers has one, is a similar build to me and doesn't have a problem driving it. It's red, which I'm not thrilled about, but it's only got 11k miles on it while sitting at $5k or so less than a new one.

The Honda, on the other hand, has over 50K miles on it, and no warranty, but it's a Honda and should in theory last forever. It's a better overall size and color (blue).

I think it's ultimately going to come down to how I feel after the test drives.

FWIW, I like my 2009 Elantra Touring (hatchback) a lot.

I drove an Elantra on my vacation and I really liked it. It felt very similar to my Cruze.

50k is nothing on a Honda Accord. You might have a timing belt replacement in 10k depending on the engine, though. Seems like it's either 60k or 90k with Hondas. Something to keep in mind.

Good to see some positive views of the Elantra. The wife is concerned about the trunk space (she packs our current, larger, cars to the gills whenever she travels and her car is even older than mine was, so she was thinking about driving whatever new car we get when she travels to visit family) but her jaw dropped at the estimated MPG ratings. Practically double what we're getting out of the Lumina she's driving now.

I am reasonably confident about the outcome of the Presidential election. (For values of "reasonably" that come in about 87% or so.) I continue to be worried about the Senate. If we don't get a Democratic majority in the Senate, we won't be able to approve any new SCOTUS justices, and despite her awesomeness, RBG is well into her 80s.

If she dies or retires without another liberal on the court, we have a conservative majority in an era where the right wing is pushing hard on limiting reproductive choices and voting rights and no end of other things.

So yeah, I sent some money to the Act Blue list of Senate races last night.

This is going to be a rough week. Tomorrow is a full day, and I will spend 15 hours on Tuesday working as an election worker, and then on Thursday I get another biopsy (ouch).
