I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was kind of shuddering at the thought of gluten-free matzoh, but then I remembered rice crackers, which are delicious. What are they like?

That all sounds promising, Steph. And remember you can basically go forever on "you'll be here until X, and then we'll see how you're doing." Or even better (depending on if this is compelling), "and then THE DOCTOR will see how you're doing."

hip deep in pie

I hope your FiL takes to the assisted living. I know it must have been difficult, but it sounds like it was the best outcome.

So today isn't a huge holiday in the US, right? Even though it's a very religious holiday, for some reason, it feels like one of the days where nothing is open. Sigh. I realized at 11 last night that I had no coffee in the house...but then I found I jar of instant that I use for baking. It wasn't bad. But since I put cream and sugar in my coffee, I can manage all but the worst coffees.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Damn, this tribute to Carrie Fisher. Ouch.

I don't want to try watching that before work. Bookmarked for later.

Steph, that it is coming from the medical professionals makes it so it doesn't feel like a betrayal from family.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

To echo WindSparrow- the Care Manager is/should be trained to help with that- I have been working on a training course for Care Managers for about a year, and transitions, coaching "reluctant" patients, and promoting self-management are what they are all about.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

GF matzoh actually sounds great, because the whole point of leavening is to develop nice long gluten strands that will make your bread light and bouncy. (Kind of like GF pie crust. Most of what makes pie crust tricky is all the things you have to do to avoid developing gluten strands. If you start with GF flour you don't have to worry about any of that.)

No, but I think schools here are closed.

When I was in high school, my village was so Catholic that the stores closed from noon- 3 on Good Friday so we could go to church. Since I wasn't Catholic and worked at the grocery store, I basically had to spend three hours punched out and in the break room, because I worked the 9 - 5:30 shift on school breaks to cover for the day cashiers who had kids. It was super weird. Also, even though there was no internet and no tv in the break room, it didn't really bother me. I just read soap opera magazines and romance novels!

brillig

Easter isn't a huge deal in Utah, though that's changing as more non-Mormons move in. Mormons understand Easter, but more than once I've had to explain why Good Friday is such a big deal, not to mention the whole Holy Week thing.

Oh, THAT'S why there was no traffic on my morning commute.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Lots of kids here at work today.
