Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I ended up chatting with my pool staff about...Buffy. Katee brought it up, that she was rewatching from season 1. They were 7 when it first aired. They were nicely, and believably, surprised I was 21 at the time. Anyway, it was funny to drop some backstory on them, including tape trees and going to visit internut axe murderers in the early days and oh yeah, my TG trips they know all about (Katee has been there longest, she knows all about N&G) are born from, yeah, Buffy.
And then they asked if I knew about Firefly.
Ahaha. Oh, babies.
And then they asked if I knew about Firefly.
Or, as my co-workers said, "You know, that show Whedon did before he did the Avengers."
Why, back in my day, no one even knew his name wasn't Josh!!
Sumi, thank you for that kitten livestream. Made my day!
Hmm, I have a few accounts that have been hacked in the past, looks like, but mostly for things I don't actually use and haven't in years. But I guess I should look into changing some passwords!
The stuff where I've been hacked were all good about sending "update your passwords!" notices, so I think I'm good.
You can check out have i been pwned? to see if your username or email is listed on bunch of the breached sites. You can also submit your email address and have them notify you if it shows up in future pwnage.
I also use LastPass and need to be more rigorous about using secure passwords.

There's some kind of flying, buzzing insect in my bedroom and I'm afraid to go in there and deal with it.
Update: After a bit of a stand-off and much panicking from me, it flew back out the cracked open window that it came in.
I really need to invest in some screens.
Who wants to research cell phone plan options for me? I am currently on Verizon paying over $100/mo. $40 line access for smart phones and $20 line access for flip phone.
I have 2 iPhone 5s that are both having some issues and a flip phone.
Do I have to turn these back in? Would these phones work on other plans?
I am open to prepaid as well as standard carriers. If I had to buy new phones I would be happy with just replacing these, not upgrading.
The iPhones will only work on other plans if they have been unlocked. Chances are that if you bought it through Verizon, the phone is locked to only accept Verizon sim cards. If the phone has been payed for, however, you can often ask for it to be unlocked, and then use it with whatever plan you want. I recently paid the remaining balance for my iPhone 6 to AT&T and then switched over to T-Mobile. 5s is old enough that you've probably already completely paid for it.
Not sure about plans though - I pay $130/month for two lines with unlimited everything and data that can be used in 140+ countries, which is worth it for us, but probably not most people.
