You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

brillig

I just chatted my FauxSon on Facebook because I haven't actually spoken to or seen him all winter and I'm trying to communicate with 3-D meat space people in real time more often (though a Facebook chat doesn't really count, I guess). Anyway, he told me he does follow my Facebook feed so that he knows I'm alive and well.

sigh ... I'd seen a dress I kind of liked in a magazine and they have a site where you can check on clothes they show. So I went to check it out and found the dress. The only size available is a 2; out of curiosity I checked the size guide and found that they consider a 10 XL, 12 XXL, and 14 XXXL. Huh?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Considering that size 14 is the average size of US women, that's kind of hilarious. Looks like they'd have to go into the Greek alphabet to indicate my size.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I often find that sizing in clothes made for an Asian market.

I think that when the average size looks like a Roman numeral, they might want to rethink their sizing.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Damn, you guys, a tornado did actually hit the Cincinnati area last night. It hit 2 communities that are to the east of the city limits. One of the communities is the one where I grew up and went to grade school. That's wild.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh no! WTF, tornados?

I worked with a guy at REI who had no idea about women's sizing so when a customer asked him what s-m-l she should look for if her dress size is 10 he was guessing XL, because his wife was a size 2 so he figured size 10 was, like, 5 times as big and that sounds extra large? Lucky I was nearby to straighten that out.

I hate trying things on in store dressing rooms, so I sometimes pick the wrong size. But jackets and such I can try on out on the floor and sometimes I take a chance and try something on at home.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The most common name in China is Zhang Wei. All of them have written this article. The reference citation will be confusing.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

The talk about sizing reminds me that I am waaay overdue for buying new slacks. All the pairs I wear for work are either stained or shredded to some degree.(Not so much that skin shows through, but you can definitely tell I have a cat)
