Sorry. Job hunting sucks.
Here's an interview question I got once.
Let's say you have 8 pennies and 1 penny is lighter than the others. If you have a balance scale what is the minimum number of measures do you need to take with it to find the light penny?
Is the answer 4?
I hate job hunting and interviews, and dates, and auditions, and self-evals, and annual reviews. A trend maybe?
I'm really not great at selling myself the way they want people to sell themselves, though.
God, that's such a critical skill and so hard to figure out! It's the exact problem I have doing my job, for the organization. Like, we can sell ourselves the way a lot of people want us to, but there are some key ones where we can't quite get there.

Is the answer IDGAF how does this relate to my job?
Is the answer Who's shaving pennies you know that's a Federal crime?

I am so irritated that I'm thinking about this. Like, if you get lucky, couldn't it be one? Put 4 on one side, 4 on the other, and if they balance, the spare one is lighter.

But I bet you killed it at Vocally Self Critical!
Minimum means, you got lucky and found it fast, right? So, four pennies on each side, one side's lighter. Remove one penny from each side, one side's still lighter, that's two. Remove one more penny from each side, one side's still lighter, that's three. Remove one more penny leaving one on each side, one side's lighter, found it in four.
Three:
Weigh 4 pennies on each side. One side will be lighter.
Take those 4, weigh 2 on each side. One side will be lighter.
Take those two, weigh 1 on each side. Done.
Ah ha! Excellent. I'm never good at those sorts of things.
