Nothing that happens in 2018 or 2020 will change that.
2018 is going to be really hard for the Dems. I think they are defending something like 25 seats out of the 33 in the Senate and the way districts are drawn is going to make gains in the House difficult. I also think we're going to see a big push to suppress the vote in Dem heavy areas. I think there's a good chance that 2020 won't be a legit election.
I don't disagree, brenda, the damage has certainly been done and I don't want to gloss that over. Kinda like that saying about planting trees; the best time to oppose neo-fascist authoritarianism is 20 years ago, the second best time is today.
I've started posting political stuff on Facebook recently, too. No blowback so far, and an 80-something friend of my parents has been liking a lot of it, which is a pleasant surprise.
I don't want to be tinfoil hatty, but this whole thing of attacking the media and immediately calling for a investigation into voter fraud seems like exactly the sort of thing to do to work towards subverting the next election.
No blowback so far
Yeah, me neither. I kind of think that the Trump supporters who I'm still FB friends with either finally realize he's a horror show, or know that at this point, there's so much opposition to him that spouting off the party line is a dumb idea. (Or very possibly they've hidden/unfriended me, which is fine with me.)
But then I also don't make my posts public, which means that no strangers will come troll and spew hatred all over. That's a plus.
As a constituent in Rubio land I have been emailing his office pushing him to make a name for himself by standing up to Trump. Saying if he had done so earlier he would have been the candidate and stuff. I know, I should feel bad for leading him on this way. Who knows, maybe he will believe it.
In much more pleasant news, I am going to see The Producers at the Jupiter Theater tonight. Haven't been there since Burt Reynolds ran the place. Trying to do more stuff I enjoy and work less in 2017. Woo!
I am fully on board with Laura working less and enjoying more!

Yay!
Lately I've been reading a lot of books because apparently I need a library return deadline to motivate me. I also finally started watching Steven Universe.
Timelies all!
I got a plaque for 10 years at my job. I am a federal employee(at an agency that is, I hope, fairly safe) so that's par for the course.
