information libertarian

From the meeting at mr. flea's workplace, it sounds like existing grants and contract can continue (since a contract is a legal agreement, they'd sort of have to, right?) Also new hires who are far enough along in the process to have a start date set are probably ok. But the disorganization in the transition team means there's an awful lot of wait and see. I'll just note that what mr. flea does is actually related to infrastructure planning - exactly a supposed priority! It's also really basic stuff like, "dumping raw sewage in the river is bad! Let's design sewer systems to not do that!" But apparently anything 'environmental' is bad now.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm glad mr. flea will be ok for now. And I hope the rest of the Buffistas with gov-related work will not have the rug pulled out from under them.

I worked for eight years on a contract job with the NIEHS (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences). I definitely worry for my former coworkers.

A slight bright spark in the darkness, the Alt US Park Service twitter gives me joy. [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's all so fucking petty: government jobs are jobs. Government contractor jobs are jobs.

That makes me crazy! "I'm going to cut the government to focus on jobs!!" Um.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm hiding from the world by focusing on work. The world in general is making me mad and scared.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have not actually gotten out of bed yet, but I have already fielded a question from work and sold some stock. Still living in the future.

I don't know if I am hiding or if I really don't have the spoons to do anything beyond what immediately needs doing in my vicinity (which is mostly my job and feeding myself), but that's all I'm managing.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

With every passing day (hell, yesterday it was basically every damn hour), I get angrier and angrier at every. single. person. who voted for Trump. I want to go up to each one personally and yell "YOU DID THIS!!!" in their stupid faces.

I actually can't believe how full of rage I am.

Coding and Sleeping

I was kinda hoping during my week off I'd have the house to myself for a few hours, but it looks like I won't have the house to myself for a few minutes. Not that I don't like having my family around but it's been years.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Tep, I also feel that way about Stein voters. Not so much the Johnson ones, because honestly, I've given up on those ones ever making a sensible choice, but the Stein ones...

Man.

Oh yeah, my rage at third-party voters might even be greater than it is for Trump voters.

I'm sorry, Gud. You deserve time to yourself.

That article on the targeted advertising using OCEAN or whatever made me feel better about my fellow Americans. More worried about what to do about the propaganda, but more charitably inclined towards voters. I still don't understand why all this is working on a population that has not just lost a war and is not suffering under hyperinflation, but I feel a little less like my fellow citizens are monsters.
