To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You'll be great, Dana!

So.... I did get the job! The salary offer isn't as much as I want, but if they can come up just a tad, I'll be happy. It's contingent on them talking to my current boss, which I think is TOTAL BULLSHIT, but OK. I mean, it's bullshit if they would ever pull the offer after I've already given notice, because how else could they talk to my current supervisor?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Woohoo job!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Go Jesse! That seems like a weird contingency unless the organizations are connected in some way.

I am against this whole sickness and mortality thing. Enough is enough.

I went to bed before 9 last night and still could not drag myself out of bed this morning. I'm at work, but no shower and no breakfast, I guess it's good I managed pants. And I think I have enough change in my purse to get something for lunch out of the vending machine. What a stupid day.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Yay, job, Jesse!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Yeah, I'm worried today because it looks like my mom's lung cancer has moved to her bones. Not a good sign, but we knew this was likely, given that she has not accepted treatment (it's her third go-round with cancer--she's had surgery and chemo twice before and decided at age 86, that she'd rather not go through it again). They aren't 100% certain yet, but it looks extremely likely.

She meets with her oncologist on Thursday and we find out more. I am less worried about her dying, which we've all known is coming, than I am about her being in pain. Here's hoping there is ameliorative treatment so that she can continue to enjoy her life.

Because it deserves its own post--congrats on the job, Cowgirl!

Coding and Sleeping

Great news, Jesse!

Much health~ma to go around.

Something I get tired of hearing is how Trump is being clever with the way he handles the media. He's not fucking clever, he just lies all the time.

I went to the eye dr. No change from last year, just need glasses for distance. So keeping my glasses and this time I got the prescription in sunglasses. First choice was the cheapest pair in the place. Whee!

Scrappy, best wishes to your mom and to you!

That seems like a weird contingency unless the organizations are connected in some way.

I mean, they are connected in some way, but I think this is their SOP. Although when my last team member left for the same new place, no one framed their call to me in this way! But I guess it was the same situation, and my team member was just awkward in saying it.
