Our wings are not tired.

TCM is showing "A Face In the Crowd" on inauguration day. Which is pretty danged pointed.

Sounds like a plan. I will be working, but will have something playing in the background. I'm guessing my soaps won't be on but I haven't actually looked at the schedule.

Controversially, I actually don't really approve of elected officials boycotting the inauguration.

Normally I would agree, but nothing about this incoming president is normal.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

If the elected official were a private citizen would it be okay to not attend as an act of protest?

Of course.

What if the elected official's district (like mine!) voted predominantly against the president elect, then would the official's constituents predominantly not support attendance?

Again, I look to 8 years ago, and how I would have felt if anti-Obama electeds had, en masse, boycotted. I would not have approved!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have this too. Not about this same issue, but we're all running around screaming our heads off about how terrible Trump is and how we're all doomed, and how is it any different from how people reacted to (and genuinely felt about) Obama?

I mean, of course it's different. But I don't understand how to ever convince "the other side" of that.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn myself. On one had, we have the whole issue of what if the Republicans had done that to Obama. I would have disapproved of that. On the other hand, if Trump did in fact "win" the election due to treasonous collaboration with a foreign power, which is looking entirely possible, I would want my representative to react to that.

I'm glad the recipe worked out for you, Kat! I'm looking forward to seeing how the sauce reheats tonight, as the recipe made quite a bit of it.

I want there to be serious investigations into that, and at least as many hearings as there were in to Benghazi. I don't think the symbolic protest is as important.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Uhm, how big a tip should I leave in my hotel room for the cleaning lady?

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I feel the opposite. I would not have approved had Democrats done this when Bush was elected as that was a legitimate win by an actual politician (one I massively disagreed with, but...). Trump is dangerous and he needs to be treated as the illegitimate POTUS that he is. To act as though any of this is normal is not acceptable in my eyes.

What I've heard is $2 per day, more if you've been especially messy.

Yeah, I do anywhere from $2-5, really just depending on what cash I have on me at the time. (if I tip $5, it's because I didn't have cash to tip the day before.)
