Got here in time (local time, anyway), to wish msbelle a wonderful birthday! And to wish you the start of a wonderful year to come!

Oh, fabulous. Since I've finally got my laptop on for the first time this weekend, I thought I'd take a quick look at the bank's site, 'cuz I'm due to balance my checkbook. Imagine my surprise to discover I've overdrawn my checking account today, in a parking lot in Los Angeles. (Hint: I haven't left San Diego, or my house, at all today) Guess who gets to call the Credit Union first thing to cancel her debit card and start disputing charges? (Hint: Me).
Thankfully it doesn't look like they tried the savings accounts, since those actually have some money in them.
TCM is showing "A Face In the Crowd" on inauguration day. Which is pretty danged pointed.
Sorted through a bunch of family memorabilia tonight, over quite a lot of good wine. Not sure I will be up for running in the a.m...
Dangit, I missed msbelle's birthday. Happy Belated, msbelle! And may the year be more wonderful than you expect!
On a non-related subject, I am loving the growing number of politicians declining to attend the inauguration.

Seriously! I've been telling people to watch that movie for months.
Controversially, I actually don't really approve of elected officials boycotting the inauguration.
Speaking of food, I just made this butternut squash linguini alfredo and it's delicious.
I made this yesterday on Calli's rec and concur it is delicious. It confused N who thought it was mac and cheese.

Why is that?
Also, I woke myself up super early because I thought I missed a deadline on a student's letter of recommendation for a scholarship. I had not.
I believe he was actually elected and will be the president, so it feels like a slippery slope. Everyone went to Obama's inauguration, right? It feels like it could easily become another party event where just the winning side shows up, and that feels terrible for our country.
Jesse, I have similar thoughts which are very conflicting for me. I want them to do their jobs and protest through their votes but then again, isn't that was the other side did? It is a lose lose in my mind.
Separately, I'm supposed to fly to SLC today. We got a bunch of snow last night with more expected today, so who knows. I also have both C and CJ home today and the maids due to come at some point. Today is going to be a mess.
