He made a public joke about "shooting all of his coworkers" on Facebook and we suspended him without pay. His feeling was that we knew he was a comedian, so we should have ignored it. Our position was that we had to treat this the same way we would if any employee did it, otherwise the next person who posts a threat could say "Hey, Charles did it and nothing happened to him."
Yeah, I don't know how else you could have treated that. He sounds like a real winner.

Scrappy you are awesome and he is an asshole. Did he call you by name? Or just "I got fired from unnamed job because titleperson was a sociopath"? Honestly, if it was the latter I'd roll my eyes and hope someone called me as a reference someday. If the former, all the more reason he deserved to have been fired. Jeez.
