Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You guys, the Second Avenue Subway is here, and I just rode it to get from therapy to work! I saved ten minutes, and I didn't have to ride the motherfucking 4/5/6 trains!

I literally thought that day would never come. And another friend of mine posted on Facebook that she had just confidently told a tourist that there was no way the Second Avenue Subway was open, and it probably wouldn't be open until 2018! Ha!

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

My great aunt had 20k or so in uncashed checks stashed around. Most of them long past being valid. She had a pension and other income, so I'm glad at least that she wasn't struggling while having all that lying around.

On a semi-related note, it's worth checking state unclaimed property websites every so often. Mostly anything you find will be small--I think I got ~$50 once--but Dylan's mother & uncles are able to pay for excellent nursing home care for his very elderly grandmother who has severe dementia largely because they discovered she had the mineral rights to some property that had been in her family. She'd been aware of this in the past, but apparently everyone had lost track of it (and the people administering it had lost track of her) because it didn't amount to much and no one expected it ever would...only now they're fracking for natural gas on the property. And while I'm anti-fracking, I *am* grateful the family found out about the claim under the circumstances.

Y'all, remember this moment when the Green Line Extension actually happens up here.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I'm a little miffed that I can't ride the Central Subway next week when I go to SF.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Hamilton Day sounds like the best day ever. I listened to LMM's interview on Fresh Air last night and I finally saw his Drunk History. Le Sigh.

Headed out of town for another mini-vacay. Too bad it will be too cold to kayak.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And now I'm grumpy, because I always do check the unclaimed property thing when someone mentions it. I was about to email family members to tell them they were listed, when I had a thought and checked my sent email. Yep, notified them in 2013.

GET YOUR DAMN MONEY, PEOPLE.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Yay, Second Avenue line!

I just watched LMM's Drunk History, too. Getting excited for Hamilton next week!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Huh, found some money owed to a cousin and my ex-aunt. I'm not going to tell them, though. I know my cousin will never bother and her mother can take care of herself...

Because books.

Second Avenue Subway! When I lived at 74th and Second, that was still a fairy tale.
