Tara: Do you have any books on robots? Giles: Oh, yes, dozens. There's a lot of research to be done in order to--no, I'm lying. Haven't got squat. I just like watching Xander squirm.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I set my DVR to record the Doctor Who Christmas special, but what little I've seen since coming home leads me to believe I should wait until I have a longer hall from which to watch it.

I'm sorry Mac is being difficult.

We have had a lovely day. Our only hiccup was deciding to go out for dinner instead of cooking and then trying to find someplace that was open. We ended up at a hibachi place with a fantastic chef. We saw Rouge One earlier today and are settling down to watch A New Hope now.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

George Michael? Seriously? Damn, 2016. You suck so hard.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Love tourtierre. We do that most years, though not this one. We also watched Zootopia. I died at the newscaster Peter Moosebridge, voiced by Peter Mansbridge. Probably only Sue O will get that, maybe Jess.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

2016 can fuck itself. There's a chance that Dad will bounce back from the pneumonia, but not a strong one, I think. So that's a thing. Otherwise, a nice Christmas, if a fairly quiet one. I'm now crashed on the futon with a bunch of Yuletide tabs open but I keep dozing off...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We're back from FiL's house in the EB. Nice, fairly low key dinner. Both Emmett and Matilda got electric blankets which they are psyched about.

But the best news is that one my best friends from college, one of the two women who ushered at my wedding to JZ, is in town with her whole extended family. And I didn't think they'd get a chance to meet Emmett because he's headed to Tahoe with his buddies for their annual trip. BUT I got him to stay until noon AND Alison's family is meeting us at the Ferry Building at 8am for coffee and snacks AND my kids will get to meet their kids which is something I have always wanted. Especially as I've gotten to know her kids well over the last four years and really like them.

So that's a bonus connection with one of my besties, and I'm chuffed my kids are going to gamely get up before 7am over xmas break to go out and meet a bunch of strangers because it's important to me.

not your mom's socks.

Still sick here but better. Trying to ignore 2016 in hopes it will get bored & knock this off.

Msbelle you are such a good mom. I'm so sorry for the stress. Consuela - all the hugs.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm sorry, Consuela.

My sister, BiL, and I drove from MI to upstate NY on Christmas Day to my niece and nephew-in-law's new to them parsonage. It's a lovely old building with gorgeous woodwork and surprisingly good insulation. They just have to do a few cosmetic things to make it their home. Since the nephew is a former barista there's excellent coffee on hand. So I'm sitting in a cozy house with family and cats and coffee, listening to a cold wind outside and knowing I can stay here with the company and wifi all day if I choose. Pretty much perfect.

brillig

I have to go to work today, but it snowed all weekend, and I'm worried about the roads on the observed holiday. I doubt the road crews are as diligent as the guys who deal with my apartment complex. It's only the last eighth of a mile of steep hill in front of my office building that's bad
