YAY CUBBIES!
My brother just texted me a picture from Wrigley. And the camera showed John Cusack in the stands, hah!

Oh Jesse, I keep meaning to send you an email. No need to get into details here, but it's for someone I know who is looking for "contacts"
Brenda, that sounds like an excellent karma.
I am home, everything hurts, and we are facing a week of stress personal and professional. But at least there is candy.
Yay, candy! Boo hiss stress.
Andi, is today the first day of your new position?
Hey, it's a Monday. I just got an email from an author that says "I have finished reviewing the file and answering your questions, but I want to know why the title was changed. Was it because of journal requirements? I will not return my article until you tell me why."
Is that...academic blackmail? (And, more to the point, does he actually think we give a shit? Oh my god.) So I had to come up with a diplomatic way to say "Dear author, 'When Cannabis Strikes the Retina' [that was seriously the title] is in no way a scientific title that reflects the content of the article and if I left the title as is, senior management would have come down on me like a ton of bricks and by the way, you are not as clever as you think."

Win or lose in Cleveland , I'm very glad I didn't have to watch the Indians celebrate at Wrigley.
As amazing as all the shots of the crowds throughout Wrigleyville are, I feel bad for all the cops and other emergency personnel having to pull extra duty these last few weeks. I've got a friend who is Chicago PD and the whole department is on 12 hour shifts with no days off until the Series is over. He works the South Side so he's not even directly dealing with the madness.

I feel like I'm part of the right fandom when I've got Cusack, Bill Murray and Eddie Vedder on my side. Lots of celebrities at the games (including John Hamm trolling us in a Cardinals hat) not counting the random Fox TV stars that "coincidentally" give the announcers a chance to plug their shows.
Steph, I don't suppose you have the authority to send a "We're sorry to hear you have withdrawn your article. We hope to work with you at a future date." email to the writer?
Oh, Steph, he won't return the article? Whatever shall you do?

That was amazing. I'm nowhere near a Cards fan, but the level of dedication it takes to troll like that is great.
