I spent the weekend in Canada with friends at a fancy cabin, and it was awesome. I made tons of Chex mix (both sweet and savory) and we danced and drank and had a fire and a hot tub and played "I Never" and flip cup and beer pong and video games and watched a movie and ate a lot of food and danced and sang and it was awesome. I'm sure my liver and sleep couldn't handle it but I wish every weekend was like that!

My boss does not have ovarian cancer!!! I am so happy. She does have severe endometriosis, and it was blocking her kindness, but she had a hysterectomy and other removing surgery! I was really really worried when she went in for a kidney and then had surgery on her ovaries!
My heart is breaking for the whole Oakland community. The more I see the worse it becomes, and they aren't finished yet.
Gallbladder behaving wishes, Mmmmmmm cheese.
Yay for awesome weekends and no cancer news!
I still have no water. I expect to hear from the plumber soon. It was like a camping out weekend. I have a water cooler that provided drinking water and a park across the street with a bathroom. Also buckets for middle of the night flushes. I didn't bother with going to the gym to shower. That will happen later here I hope.
Good news, Sophia!
In terrible news, my godsister's daughter died this morning. What the fuck even is that? She was like 10 and had a brain aneurysm. I'm not close to them, but I kind of can't bear it.
Sophia, that is great news!
sarameg, I hope your gallbladder makes this as easy as possible for you.
My DH is scared to look at the Oakland news because he might recognize an old student of his from that Fruitvale neighborhood.
I am so angry/horrified/scared about the guy who went into one of the pizza joints we go to here in DC and fired a gun. [link]
Jesse- that is horrible.
Oh, Jesse. How sad. Wishes of peace and comfort for all her loved ones.
I'm tiptoeing back into the news. Not MSNBC because I can't take all politics all the time at all. This past week I have watched the CBS morning news and it seems to have a reasonable balance of world/us/sports/arts news. The first 10 minutes or so were devoted to Oakland. Some fire department representative was saying for a large city a huge percentage of people knew someone that had some association with that location.
Sparky I saw that and saw the reddit stuff that led up to that and I am just --
Oh, Jesse, that's just horrible.

I hadn't seen any of that (news avoidance mode) and just caught up. Most of the reason I have been avoiding news is I hate hating humanity. Can't we just move all the horrible stupid people somewhere and build a wall around them?
