Well, we may not have parted on the best of terms. I realize certain words were exchanged. Also, certain... bullets. But that's air through the engine. It's past. We're business people.

Today's cubicle debate: GIF, is it pronounced Jif or Gif (Gift without the t)? With revisits to the great "Which is wetter, damp or moist?" debate.

Edit: "I'm going to Google this." "No, don't Google it!" (a few seconds later) "OK, Google says they're pretty much identical." "Yeah, and some people just like to see the world burn."

Coding and Sleeping

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I cannot muster any enthusiasm for the gif pronunciation question. It does remind me, however, of Terry Pratchett's anecdote re: Magrat. He meant it to be a variant spelling of Margaret, as actually seen in various historical census type documents, but it didn't take long to recognize that all his readers said it mag-rat and therefore that's how it is said.

The good news is I am out of bed. My glasses slipped off the nightstand while I was sleeping and I panicked a little about how I could word needing to work from home because I couldn't find my glasses, but diligent squinting and patting the carpet with my hands paid off. Phew.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

As the "G" in "GIF" refers to "Graphic" I think you go with the hard "G."

Good luck, Hec!

Thanks! I'm trying to fend off a bout of magical thinking. "Is this the way I walked Matilda to school for the other pitches?" "If I finish my croissant before they give me my cappuccino we will definitely do well..."

Time to invest in backup glasses to find the primary glasses.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I KNOW. It's them. Don't hear that. Yet.

sarameg, sorry I posted that a little tone deaf last night. Obviously you know all those things it's just phrasing in a way they will hear and listen too.

I think I'm going to investigate SAD.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Just got my report from the pitch meeting:

"HOME RUN.

Getting more people in to see it."
