Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

What is even happening?

I must have delurked much later, because you were a fixture, Plei, by the time I was posting.

-t, thank you. I didn't mention it before, because I'm hardly here, but when I saw the death notice, I just got ticked.

Is anyone watching Rachel Maddow? I love her, but sometimes, I need a shorter intro. I think she spent the first four miutes on Hurricane Hugo (from 1989).

P.S. everyone, there's not only room in the cranky corner, I think I found some saltines, too.

I will join the cranky corner, though at the moment it's mostly work sending me there, but I'm sure life will also help it right along.

But I'm posting from a plaaaaaaaane which always seems so magic

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Love to all the Buffistas, today and always.

Texting my neighbor about weather, abbreviating as HurFlo. She had her phone set to read text to voice, cause she's at the fam farm, was prepping vegs in the kitchen with all her relatives.

Apparently some old old school repressed midwestern men are blushing & the female contingent are laughing their asses off at them.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Well, I was going to take a bath, but a spider the size of a quarter just scuttled down the drain as I went to start the tub.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Well, I was going to take a bath, but a spider the size of a quarter just scuttled down the drain as I went to start the tub.

The one from LotR lives on our back porch. So I'm only using the front door until winter. (Seriously, it is SO fucking big. Not cool.)

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Mr. Loomy leaves for ten days tomorrow, to do the artist-at-gaming-events thing.

It is peak spider season.

One native to this area is named (IIRC, but there's no way I'm googling to make sure) Gigantic House Spider.

I've promised I will not try to solve any spider problems with hairspray and a lighter while Mr. Loomy is away.

brillig

I've only seen one spider in my apartment in the two years I've been here. I said "You're going the wrong way," and it scuttled into obscurity.

Herding cats for fun

I didn't have salad today, but I picked 6 pounds of cherry tomatoes and roasted them with some garlic and onions and a little olive oil. Tomorrow I will run that through the food processes, strain for seeds and have pasta for dinner.

My garden is at the delightful stage where I have way more tomatoes than I can eat. I could probably open a small farmers market on the front lawn. Why did I decide I had to have 8 tomato plants? Oh right, so I could have rainbow tomato salad. The Indigo Rose black is a really goth looking plant and the verde claro are the sweetest.

I tried not to think about planes flying into buildings today and by golly it mostly worked.

Our wings are not tired.

Well done Natterers, you posted like the wind. 132 Natter posts yesterday, plus stuff in other threads. Not record breaking, but proud of you all! I won't be as successful today with the packing and traveling, but we'll see.

Mmmm, tomatoes.

The only spiders I have here in abundance are the daddy long leg variety and they don't bother me so I don't bother them. If I saw anything else it would be a smear before it could be identified. I used to scream and call for someone else to deal with critters, but living in Florida for nearing 40 years has made me quick with the shoe.

Man, HurFlo is looking to be a very wet one. I'd rather deal with loss of power and downed branches than flooding. May people grab their pictures and pets and get the hell away.
