I hope Brazil's working out for you, Gris. It's good to see your pixels.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm hosting a phone bank tomorrow and my attendance has gone down from 7 to 3. UGH. Still plowing ahead with it, I'll just make less food. Today is my day to practice, so I am comfortable with online interface and can better guide the volunteers. I don't much like making phone calls, so it's gonna be a challenging afternoon.
ugh phone banking , man. Tested the system, got a feel for it ad the script - never even got into the script really because calls were so short.
12 calls in 20 minute with an average wait time of 30 seconds to get connected to a call.
4 hang-ups (there is a lag on connection), 2 "remove me from your list", 1 "we only vote Republican", 2 "not a good time/please call back", 1 Undecided - this guy did not know the name Beto O'Rourke, 1 Leaning toward Cruz, and 1 Beto Supporter.
Not even a net negative on the outcomes and still so UGH. Block walking is sooo much better.
Timelies all!
Went into work for a little bit today.(A sample that had to be processed within a short amount of time was drawn today, so I agreed to take care of it.)
Thank you for your efforts, msbelle. My efforts will be for Gillum, but seriously, Beto taking that seat would be a sweeter win than any of the other races.
Does it help to have a Very Texas accent when you phone bank for Beto?
unclear. I guess I could twang it up and see.
What part of Brazil, Gris?
São Paulo
Ooh! Brazil! What will you be doing there
Teaching! My wife and I are both teaching at Graded, The American School of São Paulo.
I hope you find time to share your experiences and observations.
I honestly haven't even begun to grok it. I probably should, but new country, new school, new students, new language, new apartment, I can't handle new political ickiness more than I have to.
That's amazing -- did you just move for this school year?
Holy crap, am I exhausted. Went with the band to one of the Harbor Islands, where we picnicked/cooked out, and then played almost two hours. Phew!
I think I know some folks who went to that school! (Like thirty years ago, but still!)
Vacation is over. We have unpacked, showered, eaten our first home-cooked meal in 2 days, and sorted all the accumulated mail. Sigh.
I tried to do some reading for my first grad school class that starts on Thursday, but my brain is too mushy from travel to retain any information.
