My favorite tidbit there was that Cohen is cooperating with SDNY. Which is beyond a Presidential Pardon's jurisdiction.

Nope, SDNY is the US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, which is still federal. None of these guys have been charged yet in state courts, which would put them beyond the pardon power. Yet, anyway: the NY AG seems very interested in a lot of what's going on, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mueller is sharing information with them.

I've seen this whole thing referred to as Stupid Watergate, which it really is. They're all so DUMB. John Dean was interviewed on Josh Marshall's podcast this morning, and it's fascinating to hear how much more sensible even (some of) the bad guys in the Nixon circle were.

Thrive to spite them

I see a lot of "hit the streets and protest if Trump fires Mueller" but I think if he pardons Manafort that should happen.

I've seen a few people optimistically speculate that Trump will resign because of what is happening but I don't think he will. I think he will try to hold on and grab as much power as he can.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I've seen this whole thing referred to as Stupid Watergate, which it really is.

Hee. That's what John Oliver's show calls it.

I can't believe all of the late night shows are on break.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In honor of the events of today, I have made Unindicted Coconspirator cookies. (AKA Laura Bush's cowboy cookie recipe from the NY Times.)

That's hilarious.

I see a lot of "hit the streets and protest if Trump fires Mueller" but I think if he pardons Manafort that should happen.

I'm on the list for a group of musicians to go play at protests and things, and a lot of items have been coming through in the last couple of days, and they are all good causes, but not what I want to protest! Environment, nuclear waste, old people getting evicted...

Cohen's lawyer says that Cohen wouldn't accept a pardon from Trump, for whatever that's worth.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And Trump's tweet this morning:

If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don't retain the services of Michael Cohen!

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Coding and Sleeping

Yeah, I don't think Trump will resign. All the evidence in the world won't matter if Congress won't act on it and they won't unless the Dems get control of the house.

I have a feeling that Mueller is going to come out with a lot when the time comes. He has come out with so much detail on the Russia end of things and I suspect the Russian government is better at hiding things than the yahoos around Trump.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I can't believe all of the late night shows are on break.

Didn't SNL do a summer edition of just Weekend Update last summer? They totally need to jump on that again. (Although, yeah, summer is almost over. But still.)

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

that guy built a fire in the very depressing Jack London story

And didn't he freeze to death? That would argue for some other way.

Our wings are not tired.

I can't believe all of the late night shows are on break.

They have to be going nuts, but they will have more material when they return no doubt.

Yesterday was a remarkable day, but I am looking ahead. Are Jared, Don Jr, or other family members in the next round of indictments? Will the question of whether a president can be indicted be tested? How long before we see the bogus potus run further off the rails and wholesale fire and revoke clearances? Will the GOP ever step up or are they permanently destroyed as a party? Will the remaining core Trumpers ever see the light?

That said, today is my son Bobby's birthday. Alas, once again I am in NY and he is in FL. He'll be celebrating with his new family and since I love them that helps me feel better.
