So this week I studied semi-successfully the Persian calendar (it does not correspond well with the handwriting in some of the letters), and I know the biography of the person, so when I hunted down today someone from Manuscript department who reads (but does not understand) Judeo-Persian and it helped me to identify a few documents. It's literally a big puzzle game - the index is numbered, but sadly the items are not. Speaking of other languages -- do you know what surprised me recently learning about other alphabets? That some don't have an upper/lower case! I mean, I just kind of assumed would be a rock-bottom standard paradigm for a language, and instead it's almost as if the Roman/Greek/Cyrillic alphabets are kind of an exception to almost all other writing systems.
