So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The "use landmarks that no longer exist" thing is one that I have encountered pretty much every time I move. "You know where the tire store used to be?" No, no I do not.

Legit there is a place in my mother's home village that I grew up hearing referred to as "Where Betty Mraz saw the cougar."

Betty Mraz changed her name at 18 and had not been Betty Mraz for almost two decades by the time I was born. And yet.

information libertarian

A woman I went to college gave birth to her first child two weeks ago. 46. I cannot IMAGINE.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We had Matilda when I was 45, but she didn't kill my sleep the way Emmett did.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Hey, folks. Just a quick check-in; I skipped and skimmed. Hugs and comfort to those who want or need them.

I don't have any entertaining landmark stories, sad to say.

Previous BayCon associates of mine are helping run the Worldcon, but the crowds are already too much for me and the con hasn't even officially started yet.

Still here, still reading, still keeping the Buffistas close in my mind and in my heart.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Legit there is a place in my mother's home village that I grew up hearing referred to as "Where Betty Mraz saw the cougar."

This made me laugh.

So my car was broken into (or rather, I may have left it unlocked in a migraine haze) and all my registration info was left scattered about in the car. Do I need to worry about someone trying to do something with my name & address?

They don't sound like those kind of thieves. Or that organized.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I echo David.

Hi Karl. We heart you, too.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The "use landmarks that no longer exist" thing is one that I have encountered pretty much every time I move. "You know where the tire store used to be?" No, no I do not.

My mother once gave someone directions that included, "Turn where the tree used to be."

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

We're at WorldCon. Mr. S has been a devil child today. With luck, he'll calm down a bit, so the whole weekend isn't like today.

Oh, and Gary and I were 47 when Mr. S was born.

How do you find it, Sheryl? Compared to if you were younger? (Not that I am likely to have any children at 40-whatever, never mind magically having one younger!) I fell like a heck of a lot of my friends had kids in their very late 30s, but don't know too many older with young kids
