Timelies all!
Well, we survived taking Mr. S to the Buffett concert. We forgot the kid's headphones at home, but Gary was able to get some earplugs at a Walgreen's. Of course Mr.S kept trying to remove them. We got home rather late, so we're tired. (luckily both Nova and the toddler waited until 9 to wake us up.)
I like a bowl of freshly washed strawberries with a bowl of powdered sugar to dip them in. So delicious!
Toss 'em with a little chocolate balsamic!!
There's a lot to recommend in chocolate-dipped strawberries!
Ooh, I forgot. I had these at a wedding once: chocolate liqueur soaked berries with clotted cream. O.M.G.
I'm all for strawberries and cream, but I feel like as a happy birthday dessert I want something slightly more fancier--this is in place of a birthday cake, y'know? (I could just make a strawberry cake, and I might, but trying to make it gluten-free is an added challenge). I may go with a strawberry icebox cake, with gluten-free cookies? We shall see...
Meanwhile I have just less than zero motivation today. WTF self. I had the thought that I would be all productive today since I wasn't yesterday and instead...nope. Haven't left the house.
I did a chocolate cake with strawberries between the layers and on top. Worked pretty well.
In other news, global entry is amazing.
Can you make an angel food cake gluten free? That was my grandfather's favorite, with fresh strawberry buttercream.
I've seen recipes for gluten-free angel food cake, but I'm not sure if there's a mix for it. (I am a huge fan of boxed mixes.)
OMG, I can't believe I am still awake. Went to the beach, wanted a nap after, but instead went and played trombone in the hot hot heat, then had a pina colada. Now I'm making dinner! I'm so proud of me.
