'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I had a good morning driving Lyft, as in lots of miles and money.

Tomorrow, however, my longtime roommate is going in for heart valve replacement. She's in good hands with a surgeon who is well-known for his expertise in this particular operation, including finding out that one of her regular doctor's nurses is having him operate on her mother!

Still, heart operation, major anaesthesia, rib cage cracked open (and wired back together), et cetera and so on. I'm trying to keep positive, especially as the alternative to NOT getting replacement is a slow death, and a good outcome will be a major improvement to health and overall quality of life.

But still.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Best thoughts for your friend, Theo. And quick and trouble-free healing.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Good vibes, Theo.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh wow, Theo. What hospital? (I think I know someone who is a nurse in that area in MGH, and could find out for sure if it would relevant and you would like it.)

No, the Mt. Auburn instead. Rosemary has got MIT Medical as a retiree (and they're really excellent) so they're using them instead.

(Wonderful localism -- some hospitals get the Proper Article, so it's The Mt Auburn, The Brigham, The Carney, The Deaconess -- but only for some of them. MGH and Beth Israel are exceptions.)

I have never said the Mt Auburn! (The rest of them, for sure.) But that would be how to distinguish between the hospital and the cemetery, at least!

Anyway, good luck to Rosemary.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Ugh. Don' wanna today.

When we went out for lunch, it was 25 degrees cooler than yesterday. It felt like magic.

I realize that husband only had the phone call on Friday, and it is not yet the end of Monday, but NOTHING HAS HAPPENED and are we just supposed to SIT HERE in front of the computer UNTIL WE DIE waiting for an email that will NEVER COME?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I am also waiting on an email (a contract) that feels like it will never come. Ugghhhhhh!
