Wow, Maria. That seems like a horrible thing for your SO to deal with. Sending good vibes.
Re: my long lost family- I know it happens to many people, but I had stuff up there for years so I didn't want people who were thinking about doing DNA testing to think that a) you would necessarily find a lot of close relative or b) that those relatives would answer you if you reached out. I had sort of given up and then it happened out of the blue. I think it happens more often on Ancestry than 23.
I think I have now texted back and forth with this family more than my entire known family combined. Possibly because my match is in her early 30's, so she is relaying questions.
There are, Amy! I saw one last time I was in Vegas, though I didn't actually get a cupcake out of it. Could use one now.

Wait- I thought the cupcake vending thing was a joke!
Wow.
It is really hard for me to understand that there are human beings living in the same world I do that sincerely believe these things. It's like Flat Earth.
It's real, Sophia, though I cannot attest to its fabulousness.
I just wish there was one, like, in the breakroom.
Basically, I followed some Fox News stuff and a some people who commented on that stuff in a right-wing way and added some more people Twitter suggested.
Huh. That's a really good idea.
It's like Flat Earth.
This is really such a mystery to me! Do those people seriously seriously believe the earth is flat????? Have they never been on a plane??
Is this the place where I learned unexpected things about duck necrophilia? If so, y'all might be interested in this corvid tidbit. [link]
Fuck toxic masculinity.
Agreed.
Just read a Kirkus review of a new novel/thriller that tackles this: [link] Our Kind of Cruelty, by Araminta Hall.
Whoa. "This is simply one of the nastiest and most disturbing thrillers I've read in years. I loved it, right down to the utterly chilling final line." ―Gillian Flynn
