Excellent morning indeed, Matt!
Mine is going okay. Have to get to work on my dress making.
Son is settling in at his new apartment. I picked him up from work last night, but he texted me this morning that his roommate was taking him to work this morning. They have a compatible schedule where he can get a ride most days. Roomy was delayed a few days moving in for the worst possible reason. He was getting the place with son because he couldn't stand living at home with his brother any more because they fought all the time. Then Monday his 14 yo brother died. Don't know what happened yet. Of course, grief is that much more complicated when the relationship was bad. I'll see him tomorrow to give him hugs when I bring more stuff over to the apartment.
How awful, Laura.
I have to say how impressed I am with you and Debet, not only making dresses, but Special Occasion dresses!!
I end up making special occasion dresses because I hate shopping. It never seems possible to find what I want, and the whole trying on things, ick. I made my graduation dress, which I loved so much. Two of my wedding gowns I picked the fabrics and design, but friends made them for me, although I helped.
I have it laid out!! What a pain. 5 pieces on a folded section of fabric and 10 pieces on a single thickness section. 10 because it was a bunch of one piece one direction and the same piece reversed. I guess it was the most efficient use of fabric, but good grief. I anticipate the actual sewing to be like 10% of the project.
Sewing is always the least bothersome part of the project. I like it when my draper just makes the pattern and cuts everything out, and I just have to stitch. She hates alterations, which I actually like, so it works out pretty well.
I saw that all Harry Potter movies were on HBOGO, but it says no and I was all set to watch them today. BOO!

I'm here in Virginia for the scattering (actually burying) of my mom and dads ashes in the memory garden of my moms church. It's her beloved lefty church and the minister is a young woman who did a lovely job. Then the family had lunch together and then we gathered up the last bit of stuff from my moms place. We unearthed a particularly hideous painting of my mom which none of us had ever seen and all of us tried to fob of on each other. I beleive my brother Chris slipped it into the box of books he carried out to my car, so it'll be my job to get rid of it once I get back home tomorrow..
Got my pi hooked up to the stereo. Now just deciding on Hell's Bells by AC/DC or Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses for my intro music.
Timelies all!
Just got back from daytripping Shore Leave, a local fan-run media con. Headliner was William Shatner, but I was more interested in Ming-Na Wen and Allison Scagliotti. Mr. S was being especially challenging, so that wasn't fun.
My band played at a local event, and the crowd was AWESOME. We played an encore! Also one of the leaders got us pizza and then I went for ice cream with friends. All in all, an excellent afternoon.
And I am on vacation!!
