Maria, definitely time to disengage with some folks. You know what you do and can do and that's up to you. Me, I hardly ever post links to news or politics--I see all my friends posting the same articles and I comment and interact on those. But I don't generally feel like I need to add one more link--my friends are generally already seeing it?? And as you said, reality and calls and donations are more important than Facebook posts. :(

am assuming that it's Google Translate making my coworkers greeting to a customer whose first name is Jesus read "Hello Lord Jesus" but it is making me laug

That is amazing. Love it.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Had a mammogram this morning. They're supposed to call me with the results, since something wasn't working there. Had another PT session at noon, and now I'm watching Drunk History.

Do I bother to call my TX senators? I mean really? Cruz & Cornyn there not really here for my liberal wishes.

Thrive to spite them

I called Richard Burr on NC. It probably won't do anything but I had my say. Or I'm having my say I need to call agai.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I called my NC senators, and Burr and Tillis are not entirely aligned with my political viewpoint.

Actually, Burr is a great senator from a constituent response point of view. I've contacted him on many issues, and he's always responded saying a) he heard me, b) he'll be taking x action, and c) why he's chosen to do so. Frequently he (or his staffer, probably) will take the time to address specific things I've brought up in my emails. X action is usually the exact opposite of what I want, but I do generally feel like he (or his staffer, probably) has considered my point of view before choosing what he'll do. It's a lot like talking to my sister. She'll listen to me, but she's starting from very different premises than I am, so her conclusions are often very different from mine. (Although she can't stand Trump, and I'm reasonably sure she didn't vote for him.)

not your mom's socks.

Glamcookie, if my post in any way came off as flip, I didn't mean it to, and I'm sorry. I am terrified for so many friends and their families right now. Doing everything I can think of and adding more as I can.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Not at all, hippo. I'm just so raw and on edge. I know all of y'all are good people. I'm just flip flopping between hopeless and furious. Furious does me more good than hopeless, so trying to stay there for now.

move out and draw fire

I'm burying this in here rather than putting it in Press for reasons...

A long time mentor and friend of mine is starting a website to prevent the normalization of the Trump presidency and upcoming administration decisions/policies. He is looking for content contributors. Given the nature of my work, my participation, if any, will be obfuscated.

Here is the shell of the website.

As an example of content, the first thing posted is likely to be Reince Prebius' congressional voting record on issues like the environment, social services, women's rights, judicial appointments, public housing, etc.

If you would like to contribute content, you can email me at my profile addy and refer to the "field guide."

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Do I bother to call my TX senators? I mean really? Cruz & Cornyn there not really here for my liberal wishes.

Republican legislators should be bombarded with constant reminders that they will forever be tied to anything they let Trump do.
