Also, you can tell it's not gonna have a happy ending when the main guy's all bumpy.

Vortex, can you ask Hubby directly? Like "hey, your husband is saying you are sober, if so I didn't know that, let me know if I should change any plans, perfectly happy to do dinner instead of drink or whatever"? Or something along those lines? I mean the man could be in denial but neither you nor his husband can get him out of that.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I was thinking that I should just reach out to Hubby and ask if we are still on for this weekend.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh jeez, Vortex, that's tough. You could just let it ride and not see Hubby unless he reaches out.

Yeah, but I don't want to punish Hubby or make him think that I think he has a problem if his husband is just being dramatic because he had a few drinks on a Monday.

Our wings are not tired.

If Hubby told you he had to detox for a couple weeks after partying it could be a problem exists. Ugh. Tough.

I have apparently lost my mind so I am up late packing because I am departing for NY in the very early morning. All week I have been suffering over the decision with my cousin passing away and tonight I told DH I really wanted to be there for his service Saturday. So on the road. Made reservations to fly back on the 1st to do all the wedding prep stuff then the dog and DH will drive back up there after the wedding. Insane. I may need to take up coffee again.

So the new EO on family separation trades family separation for family detention. So long as the administration insists on criminal prosecution for every single immigrant, even the asylum seekers (! which is illegal!), they will end up separating the children. It's just that instead of separating them immediately, they'll keep the family together until the parent is charged and then separate them.

ARGH.

Can Native American tribes grant asylum? Do they have that legal standing as a nation?

Sadly, no. Reservations are domestic dependent nations, subordinate to the Federal government. Which is why most tribal police departments can only prosecute misdemeanors: the FBI has to be called in for felony crimes. The tribes do get some special authorities, but most of them do not have the wherewithal to defy the government directly on matters of national security.

Herding cats for fun

Better to be a work horse that gets er done than one of those flibbertigibbit race horses who get retired early.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've now seen it in writing twice!

Oh dear. Well, thanks for clarifying that for me.

Oy, Vortex. That's a tough situation. Confirming your weekend plans in a party neutral way seems reasonable to me.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You have an actual career, which is something to be proud of!

As Jesse notes, you not only have a career but you have pulled off the dream career of writing for a living about something you genuinely love.

(I know it sometimes feels like work and a drag, but when you step back and look at it - it's true.)

Workhorse isn't really a compliment. It implies...workmanlike. Sufficient. Grind it out stuff.

You were right to take offense. BECAUSE that's not how you write. Your work is very informed, thoroughly researched, shows your zest and humor.

So, he was being an ass. But he wasn't being accurate.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

IMPORTANT CEILING CAT UPDATE: CEILING CAT HAS BEEN CAPTURED AND WAS SENT BACK TO THE YARD. ALL IS WELL, I REPEAT, ALL IS WELL.

(Yesterday afternoon was eventful to Ceiling Cat and I was afraid that he was hurt by his adventures. I was very happy to see him very much alive this morning).

Vortex, I am sorry for the weird friends dynamic situation.

In other news, my mom landed in AZ about 7 hours ago. She is visiting her sister and vacationing for the next 31 days, and I am very happy that she is able to do so.

(updated: apparently a word was missing).
