This is my boat. They're part of my crew. No one's getting left. Best you get used to that.

Swam at Druid. Need to find better face sunscreen-I can see the swimming cap line. Met far more interesting people than me.Her: ate this & that at Pride & going to a thing on Afro-Cuban art. Me: ....I put in my ac?

Cleaned house, but not the basement. Thank gawd I put in the ac. Even so, may be time to margarita while cleaning again....Filled a jumbo garbage bag with ivy. I hate ivy. It doesn't look great, but better.

Acquired many mosquito bites on the backs of my thighs.

Also, my wrist is kinda jacked up. Probably from the ac maneuvers. Not sprained, just sore in weird ways.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Summer heat's finally arrived, so I did my outside stuff in the morning and hid from the evil weather the rest of the day. My attempt at growing a tomato plant did not work out. I finally put the sad remnants out of their misery (or at least out of the pot) and replaced them with a sage that had reached the limits of its smaller container. I planted a peppermint (in a pot, which is resting on cement) and a couple of salvias. There's one pot where I'm not quite ready to displace the pansies, even though they wilt in the NC summer heat almost as badly as I do. Otherwise, I think my planting's done for the season or until something dies tragically.

I discovered that my niece is three months pregnant. Yay! It's the first kid in that generation for the family, and the niece has wanted to be a mom for ages. Now I have even more incentive to move up north.

I hope your wrist feels better soon, sarameg.

Happy belated birthday askye!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Yesterday was fix the disposal and go to a graduation party for a neighbor. today was build a piece of furniture that I designed and Matt brought to reality. Conception to reality was the long process. Going to have to move the furniture soon.

ION , we are debating dinner choices healthy, or not so healthy

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Father's Day is always also Clearwater weekend, so we celebrated with a two-day music festival ten minutes from our house. We saw The Nields, TMBG, and Ani Difranco on Saturday, and Rhiannon Giddeons today (plus a lot of awesome groups I didn't know). And I bought a parasol and had a ginger cookie/lemon ice cream sandwich and managed to get only mildly sunburned. And then my sister came over and we had Indian takeout and talked about theater.

It's been a good weekend. I did zero chores. The house is a disaster and we have nothing to eat except bagels and leftover Indian food, but it was worth it.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds great, Jess!

What kind of furniture, beth?

Coding and Sleeping

today was build a piece of furniture that I designed and Matt brought to reality.

That is really cool.

I hope the wrist heals quickly, sarameg.

My daughter just came over to me, wished me a happy Father's Day and gave me a hug. Suddenly, a kinda crappy Father's Day became a really good one.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm lying on the bed naked because it's still in the high 80s and we don't have AC. It's only going down to the high 70s tonight. It won't be fun. The DH hasn't wanted to buy an AC unit because it usually cools down at night, but I may just have to stomp out to Lowe's tomorrow and pick one up.
