Angel: You know, I killed my actual dad. It was one of the first things I did when I became a vampire. Wesley: I hardly see how that's the same situation. Angel: Yeah. I didn't really think that one through.

I've been here since just before 8; so far, I'm the ONLY person in the wing. Creepy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm glad I have one coworker who is always here by 7:30 -- I've never been the first person in! That would be creepy.

It's so interesting to me how subtle communication things give the wrong impression. Remember how I was made to hire someone on to my team? She's been growing on me, because she really is smart and capable, so that's good. But this morning she sent me an email about a family emergency, which stated that she has to leave at noon and asked if we could touch base about the project she's working on. It rubbed me the wrong way to a degree that is probably not fair! If she had asked if she could leave, of course I would have said yes. And of course I want to talk about her project before she does! But you don't ask me to touch base, missy!

Anyway, getting over that before we do speak this morning.....

My work day starts super early, but in my jammies on my sofa. My customer base starts work about 5 AM (surgical centers), so if they have any issues my phone rings early. I don't purposely start working until about 6:30. Yawn.

Someone burnt toast, so clearly I am no longer the only one here.

Old officemate got in at or before 7, as did several other people on my old hall. So it's weird being THE morning person here. Especially since I am the most grudging morning person ever.

How can McMullin become president if he only wins one state?

Calli beat me to it. I think it has a good 0.2% chance of happening.

The interesting thing I've learned from Wikileaks is that things are pretty much the way one suspects they are.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

And of course I want to talk about her project before she does! But you don't ask me to touch base, missy!

Since I don't work in an office, I genuinely have no idea: what's the proper way to ask someone higher up than you if the two of you can discuss XYZ project? Is "touch base" something that only goes from higher-up to lower-down?

(None of that is snarky [stupid lack of tone on the internet]. I'm totally serious. Because I wouldn't think anything of asking someone higher up than me if we could touch base about a project.)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Therefore as a special birthday present for aurelia I shall grant a Clinton win in 11 days. Happy birthday!

Best. Gift. Ever. Thanks!

I can't get into my workplace unless security has opened the building so I can't be the only one in the building. I have often been the only one on my floor aside from the security desk though.

Because books.

I love being the only person in the bakery, although that's always in the evening when I'm closing, not in the morning. It's so wonderfully quiet when I'm alone there.
