Never apologize for venting here. You aren't being selfish. You are using (what sounds like) the only outlet you have. You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.
And not just by your invisible friends in the box. You are a dedicated and consciencious man, who is human and makes mistakes, and often doesn't measure up to his own idea of what and how he should be. But impossible standards are impossible, no matter who sets them or expects them to be met.
We're all deserving of respect and kindness--you provide that every day for your family. Please don't rob them of the opportunities to provide that for you, too. Your family dynamic needs professional help. Please provide that for all of you, as part of being respectful of their--and your--needs, and kindness for all of you.
Gud, don't mean to pile on, but we are doing it because we care. I don't think that I am alone in seeing a smart, kind, thoughtful man who wants the best for his family, but is too willing to take on the blame for any bad thing that happens.
As a counselor, your wife should recognize the value of counseling, even if she thinks that she doesn't need it. Even if she refuses to be helped, it will do you and your kids good.
Skipped ahead, sorry to drop in the middle of a convo, but I am freaking out a little.
One of the foster kittens fell off the back of a wingback chair while playing and I heard a yelp and then weird like coughing and noise of the floor. He was convulsing. I scooped him up and wrapped him in my shirt and he stopped convulsing, but was real still. so i just held him and pet him and I was of course already crying. I was sure he was gonna die right there in my arms.
It's been about 20 min. He kept breathing, stopped making weird noises, started looking around. I did my best to do an assessment like I would for broken bones on a person, no yelping or indications of pain. i let him down to walk and he did.
I've texted the shelter head, but not sure she looks at that on the weekend much. I do not think there is an after hours care place I can take him unless I want to pay for it.
I've put him back in his kennel and I guess will wait to hear from her tomorrow and maybe take him in to get checked out.
God, I think I'm gonna be up every couple hours to check on him. I am sick.

You have done exactly what I would have done. Did you see if he would take any food or drink? Best guess is that it was just shock and he is fine. If stuff is broken he would let you know.

He took some from the bottle. he has been off the bottle, but I figured he was being cuddled and might take some.
Yes, that is a very good sign.
If you think he might be shocky you could also make sure he's got a heating pad (low-level, not hot).
He is not doing any of that. I took him out if the kennel again to check on him and he was playing with his kennel mate. He is eating. He snuggled with me for a bit and I put him back in. I'm gonna shower and go to bed. See if I can make it through the night without checking on him.
