Great, coworker is speculating about whether we're all going to be laid off, just to relax me.
UGH. I can't decide if I want to yell at the universe for being a dickwad, or if I should just nod knowingly because we ARE in the darkest timeline.

Yeah, Debet's up at the opposite end of the island. (In my favorite part of said island, even.)
Good, I am glad to have Debet's safety confirmed.
Dana's coworkers generally need to chill.
I feel like crap today, after feeling like crap all yesterday, so working from home. My friend's son's funeral is today and I feel like I should go to support her but I also feel like I should not go to not spread my germs all around. Not a great day, on the whole.
Yes, I am far from the lava, in pretty much the lowest-lava-risk area. We got the earthquakes, though. After the second one, they evacuated the schools here in town (lest they fall down on the children. They did not fall down), and I think I have an additional crack at a seam in a baseboard that wasn't there before.
Yeah, the whole earth moving thing should be for more fun events. Are local people generally excited about it, in either a good or bad way?
I saw a news report that quoted someone saying "Pele's going to do what she wants."
I still feel like someone stabbed me in the gut
Somebody did!
The people who I have seen posting about it are generally people who have been here no longer than I have, so they haven't been here for subdivisions being taken out. Historically speaking, it's happened a lot down in Puna, which is part of why it's where the cheap land is on the island.
The people who have been here longer are either not posting about it, or are posting a map of the island showing where they live (generally Kona), and where the lava is (1.5-2 hrs away), for their mainland people.
Hec, five times actually!
I'm glad you're safe, Debet! Stay that way, please.
