I've got a whole bunch of photographs printed out and spread over the floor, and I keep staring at them, hoping that they'll arrange themselves into a coherent portfolio, somehow.
It seems like it would be hard to assemble your own photos into a portfolio in the same way that it's hard for a writer to edit their own writing -- you're too close to it, because it's your own creative work.
That's exactly the problem, Steph.
I adore your photos, Tom. I wish I could offer some helpful suggestions on how to proceed.
Teppy, I feel your pain - literally - when it comes to the plantar fasciitis. I'm about ready to ask for a foot transplant.
Today was productive at least as far as getting plants in the ground or into planters goes.
Well, here's a first stab at a portfolio site.
Now I need are better project titles than "Color" and "B&W", and a domain name.
I'm not sticking to my order of importance for tasks. I guess I am working from both ends instead of linearly on my list.
Now I need to :
take pics and list the things for sale - Done 3
label the storage bins
mop the kitchen/living room - did half
file the next pile of papers in living room
and if that gets done:
hang up clothes in bedroom
fold laundry & put away - did half
vacuum bedroom
Well, having gorgeous photos collected in one spot is certainly a good place to start, Tom.
Several themes stand out for me: shadows, architectural shapes, and graffiti. Perhaps something like that's a place to start? What do you think of as you're looking for a good shot? Are there thought processes or plans that could be organizing principles? Maybe your neighborhood, excursions, adventures?
I've done nothing much this gorgeous, sunny weekend.
I just made a vagina geode cake for a birthday party, and then discovered that grapefruit juice in margaritas is effin' delightful.
...I did the dishes and changed the bed, showered and put on makeup, so that's something, I suppose...
I'm on my way back to California tonight. Currently I'm in the Cubs bar at O'Hare drinking a Green Line.
sold a folding music stand that did not sell in 2 garage sales. FB marketplace is 3/5 for quick sales for me. LOVING THAT.
Also saw neighbor that I rarely see. Our sons played soccer together, but mac stopped playing and they grew apart as friends and we never meshed as family friends. Anyway, I have had their ladder for about 5 years. I've asked a couple of times before if they'd like it back and they just said "keep it, we know where it is." well I asked again tonight and he was all "oh, you have my ladder?" I guess they forgot where it was. So I returned that and boom, another thing is out of my garage.
I think I am done being productive for the night. Maybe I'll get a few pieces of clothing hung up before I go to bed. Anything is progress, I currently have a giant pile of clothes on the daybed, and another giant pile in front of the closet..
I can file things and list more things for sale the week in the evenings after work.
Tep, fwiw, I'm super blister-prone, but Feetures running socks changed my life.
