On the radio this morning, they were talking about how current high school students haven't necessarily heard of Columbine, since it happened before they were born. Which just seems so crazy to me.
I started the day with stupid PT, then meetings, then lunch, next more meetings. I guess I could be getting work done, but there's the whole internet to catch up on!
Whoa, really? Damn, this school shooting thing has been going on a long time.
Oh, shit. I totally forgot it was 4/20. My neighborhood is going to be overrun with people going to the Hippie Hill festival in Golden Gate Park.
I did miss a digit back there. It has been 19 years, not 9. It happened in 1999. Last century! Even though we didn't live out here then, it is a big part of local history and there is a lot of reverence given to the Columbine family and neighborhood. Then you add the Aurora shooting, which was the next town over, and it is impossible to miss the tragic history here.
I truly hope that the activism that is awakening in today's youth will carry forward into the upcoming elections and bring some accountability to the previously elected idiots. The overwhelming apathy certainly contributed to the mess we currently are witnessing. Watching any DC hearings is incredibly rage inducing. Hope for the future? Gotta have it.
Still at my sister's house. Going home tonight and coming back next week. For the most part her cataract surgery went well. First eye is great, second one resulted in a large broken blood vessel or some such that is blocking her vision completely in that eye. It will most likely dissolve, which is a better outcome than the retinal tear they thought it was at first. Surgeon said he would give it a month before considering fixing surgically, but even that would be a quick easy thing.
No news on her failing kidneys until next week when she has more tests. I'm frustrated with the tons of meds she has taken for the last 40-50 years. Treating symptoms instead of underlying issues, such is the way doctors and pharmaceutical companies make money! I've already trained my doctor not to waste his time writing scripts for me. I really hope this is reversible for her.
ION, I am so unproductive with work stuff!! But I did my exercise class at the OrangeTheory center over here and set a new personal record so apparently my rage is being put to good use.
Laura, after my cataract surgery, I developed "internal cataracts" - basically a film across the inside of the eye. They were pretty easily broken up with a laser (I think it was a laser). It was an extremely unpleasant process and left me in bad shape for a day or so - I hope her problem can be dealt with as easily.
My eye doctor said 50% of cataract patients have to have a laser treatment to remove the build-up within six months. I had it myself, and the blurring built up rapidly. It's been perfect since.
::cries::
It looks like we have a lot of cross-references product numbers wrong for JCP's new product. There's no way I'm going to figure this out today, so that'll be a Monday problem, or maybe several days next week. I have a bad feeling we have been shipping the wrong product.
Oh my god, my day turned into a total dumpster fire. Luckily, I could have ice cream and bourbon for dinner. And probably bourbon for dessert.
My dislike of 420 is compounded multiple times over now as (a) a helicopter circles endlessly and loudly over our neighborhood) and (b) Matilda is stranded out by her school because the entire public transit system has been disrupted.
Fucking hate it.
