I got an I'm sorry text this afternoon. Progress.
Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Timelies all!
Tomorrow morning, bright and early, Mr. S and I head to Toronto. Yes, I'm driving there. Hopefully I'll arrive with a reasonable amount of sanity left.
Yes, and -- I know this will be hard to hear -- you have to use Windows ME.
NOW YOU'VE DONE IT! We're going to have to do the full exorcism now, you invoked The Beast's name.
good, msbelle
The PTB in my office decided a while ago that my old tower computer just had to go, so they inflicted a New! laptop on me. It takes up space on my desktop (the tower was - and still is - under my desk). It's slower, it's awkward, some of the things I need weren't on it so they had to be downloaded since it doesn't have a CD drive and it periodically decides that it MUST update something ... which, of course, means that whatever it updates doesn't work right until I batter it into submission ... or give up and get something else that will sort-of do what I need. I keep muttering "you stinkin' piece of shit" at it. I went out and bought my own CD drive because I needed to install some fonts - which of course didn't transfer over. I really, really hate it.
David Gerrold was a Guest of Honor at Westercon a few years ago, when it was in Sacramento. He was memorably kind then; squeeing would seem to me to be an entirely appropriate response.
Westercon you say! It is being held in Denver this year, hosted by a con I work with called Myths and Legends. This year we are exploring so many of my favorites - Dr. Who, Supernatural, (not Sherlock - totally missed opportunity), Harry Potter and more.
Westercon will be about 2 weeks after Denver Comic Con - so I will be Con crazy in June/early July.
PLUS, PLUS, PLUS, I graduate with my masters the weekend before DCC. I'm on my last class and have so much don't wanna, it is epic.

Lots of sanity~ma! We sang in the car a lot on road trips. Still do.
Petty venting - twice today people have thanked someone else for something I did in an email I was cc's on. And one of those people thanked me directly for something else I did but called me by someone else's name. I hate everyone.
My phone started blowing up mid-morning, and when I checked there was a group text Hubby's sister had sent out and many people responding to it. Her daughter died this morning, from what appears to be mishandling of her prescriptions. She had a habit of taking three or four instead of one, and she got several psych drugs refilled yesterday. I think it was accidental, because the police found a container of melting ice cream on her desk next to her body, which had fallen out of her chair.
SIL is devastated, of course. She has close friends with her, so she's well taken care of. I had lunch with her and her best friend. She was already planning to move to Salt Lake City, so I don't have to worry if she can afford to live somewhere without her daughter's income (they lived together). So my day was different than planned.
