Our wings are not tired.

I hope you were able to get back to sleep, aurelia.

Please send some health~ma toward my sister. I am headed across Alligator Alley again today to take her to cataract surgery, which is all good. On the other body parts level, not so much. She had to go see her doctor because he refused to renew her meds, understandably because she has taken the same AD for many many years, and frankly it really doesn't even work anymore. Anyway, he did labs and called her yesterday morning and asked her to come in immediately to discuss the results. Her kidneys are in big trouble. Going for scans Monday. Immediate stop to all pain meds and her metformin. She can barely walk from knee pain and has been taking meds for pain for years. Biggest scare is that she has had lung cancer and surgery for that, and bladder cancer. Neither has reared its ugly head for a decade, but this is really scary. Hoping that the kidneys are just pissed off about the quantity of prescription meds she takes and that we can wean her off a few.

I'm going to stay with her a few days because she is pretty stressed.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man, Laura -- best wishes to your sister! That sounds like a lot.

In much more minor news, I am SO SICK of my winter clothes! Even more than I'm sick of being cold! I'm about to buy a whole new wardrobe, but I know one is waiting for me, if it ever gets above 40.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Health~ma for your sis, Laura.

"Summer is coming" just doesn't have the same gravitas as Winter, does it?

BUT IS IT?? (And I'm not even in the places where they are still getting plowable snow...)

I feel pretty certain it will be hot by August. Fairly sure.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

A sudden ice storm took out our power for a few days and it was COLD in the house. We almost joined a local gym just to be able to take a shower! Power is back, although it's still wintry outside.

Nice!

So, I decided to wear my backpacking boots today, see if they are still comfortable. They are, for the most part, but they are also apparently old enough for the midsole to just disintegrate. Better to find that out now than on the trail, I suppose.

Ah well. Sometimes I get to hear Steve Malkmus singing on NPR, the world is a rich and varied place.

hip deep in pie

health-ma to your sister, Laura.

I clearly am incapable of living by myself. I need someone to check to see if I'm appropriately dressed in the morning. I discovered on my way to a meeting that the leggings I was wearing (as tights) were an old holey pair that I had actually chopped the last 5" off of one leg. I was wearing them for an hour before i realized that the legs were different lengths.
