Willow: Something evil-crashed to earth in this. Then it broke out and slithered away to do badness. Giles: Well, in all fairness, we don't really know about the "slithered" part. Anya: No, no, I'm sure it frisked about like a fluffy lamb.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

David, how goes the murine supplication?

We gave Marcie a sitz bath tonight and that helped her bum.

We threw Prubs in too and she was mildly traumatized but they freak out less when they're together.

Fortunately they have extremely short memories so applying parsley to their psychic wounds is usually sufficient.

I'm watching the British version of Who Do You Think You Are?, a show on the genealogy of famous people. I'm watching Ian McKellin's episode, and he's at the church where his grandparents were active. He's looking at the register of members. "Why is my name in here!" "You were baptized here. At that font, right there." "I was baptized? Does that mean I'm going to heaven?" "I'm afraid so."

hip deep in pie

Thanks for all the ~ma. My BiL finally got his stent on Friday and was released yesterday.

ION, I deamt last night that I was pregnant, and the father was either the person I was currently seeing (in the dream), or Joss Whedon. How weird and random. Anyway, I told them both that they were the father. Joss was fine when I told him I was pregnant. But then he started being a jerk about the end of our relationship, basically blaming me for not knowing he was a dickhead. This however seems on brand IRL? Also, he called me Susie, which I hate.

Our wings are not tired.

Continued recovery~ma for your BIL. Your brain needs to serve up a better dream tonight.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So, as I posted on FB, when we pitched at Upper Deck I saw the reissued version of the Buffy board game in their display case (rather anomalous next to all the sports memorabilia and Marvel stuff).

Our pitch went well and afterwards we were getting a tour of their new office, which had tons of sports memorabilia and some cool Marvel art. I mentioned to the guy giving the tour (their #2) that I noticed the Buffy game and told him that JZ and I had a Buffy quote on our cake and Willow and Oz cake toppers. So he gave me a copy of the game! Said they don't get a lot of Buffy superfans there, but their founder was a huge Buffy fan. Which is the only reason they reissued the board game.

So in our lunch after the meeting at a local cafe I couldn't help but flash the game at the counter girl and say, "I bet you're jealous now!"

And she exclaimed, "What?! No way!" and the comically perfect Spicolli surfer dude making sandwiches declared it "Rad!"

On the flight home I had to carry it in my arms because it was too big to put in my suitcase. After I arrived in SF I was taking the Monorail to the BART station and this older retired couple got on. They were elegant world-travelers and the wife saw my Buffy game and her face lit up and she said, "I love that show!"

Then on the last leg of my trip home, I was waiting on the platform for my train and I had the game sitting on top of my suitcase. A train pulled in packed with rush hour commuters, and I could see a middle aged businesswoman squinting hard through the window to see the game (it's a dark box but SMG stands out on it). I saw her so I held up the game so she could see and she gave me a big beaming smile and a thumb's up.

So, if you want to meet nice people just walk around with the Buffy board game under your arm.

That is delightful to read, David. It is so fun when I run into a surprise Buffy fan.

Sometimes I forget that I'm on a Buffy board and I'll have thoughts like, 'Gee, Jesse sure seems to know a lot about Buffy - I didn't know she was a fan."

I'm full on barbacoa consommé, sope & taco. Perfect for this stupid weather (which is identical to last Saturday's in NC, except we might get thunderstorms overnight rather than ice. The fuck, April?!?)
