Oh dear, askye. Much ~ma for your grandmother.
My sister had cataract surgery Wednesday and she called me yesterday to let me know she was amusing herself by looking at things with one eye then the other. Apparently the color difference is striking. She had painted her living room and kitchen a couple years ago and she said the color is quite different than she realized. In a good way fortunately. She gets the other eye done next week.
I'm so glad Paul Ryan will be leaving congress. I really find him annoying with the way he talks about wanting to help people and caring while working hard to make sure the wealthy pay fewer taxes and the people he says he wants to help get fewer services. I get that he might be sincere in his faith in markets, but he's plenty old enough to know that's not how the world actually works.
Love to you msbelle. I hope things are better today.
askye, lots of ~ma for your grandmother.
A belated and heartfelt thanks to all of the Buffistas who donated to my Rock Roulette band. You all were among my most supportive donors, even though I'm hardly around these days, which just goes to show that family is family. Thanks in part to you, we collectively exceeded our fundraising goals (as a band) by over $700, and as an event by over $1500! Awesome!
Also, I did a thing I was terrified to do, (got up on stage and performed) and it was fun. We weren't the best band out of the nine, but we definitely weren't the worst, and I think I'm going to do it next year. Maybe I'll even try to learn another instrument!
I am entirely over this week and am ready for it to end.
Cataract surgery for the win!
Today is better.
That is very good to hear.
I'm dealing with one of those authors who argues with most of the changes I made (even though those changes are in line with our style manual). The plot twist on today's author is that he is the editor-in-chief of the JAMA journal in which the article is being published.
Why the fuck doesn't the EIC know our style? Why does he think I'm being indiscriminate in my changes? And the problem here is, I don't think I have the authority to tell him that the editing is staying as is, because those edits are in line with our style. A lowly freelance editor is at the bottom of the hierarchy, and I can't just tell the EIC I won't make his changes. But I think I'm going to have to be the one to tell him that, and then if he objects again, I can kick it up the ladder. Bah.
Hugs and love and moral support to all who need or want them. I know I don't post much these days, but I read here pretty much every day.
As amyth said, family is family. (Hi, amyth!)
