You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Not eating fattening food and not unnecessarily spending money are two of the three bugbears harrowing me lately. The other is cleaning the house. I need to either Nike Just Do It, or quit caring about it somehow.

ION I may be getting a bicycle. I've been wanting one, but it may be pointless. There are so many hills around here.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay potential bicycle!

I had to ponder for a bit to figure out who these Tatums are, but I pinned it down and, yeah, that's sad.

That hairstyle is awesome, meara, but definitely would not look like that on me (mostly because of my "oh, shit, gave I combed my hair?" approach to styling)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

they let some issue build up for months without saying anything to me about it, finally say something, I tell them "Ok I will have a chat with ..., let me know if there are further issues". I talk with the person, nobody says anything for months, I assume the little chat took care of the issue, but meanwhile the thing is still going on, but the experienced staff are back to not saying anything and letting their frustration build up until it explodes.

I can see where that would be annoying. If they're not coming to you with further issues, but history suggests further issues continue, perhaps you'll need to work weekly, 5-minute check-ins into your schedule. "We had a discussion about X. What's been happening since we talked? Are the younger staff stepping up the way we hoped/are the older staff communicating about needs and requirements? What would you like to see happen next?" Then if experienced staff still explode three months down the road you can say (perhaps even have documented), "You said things were fine at week 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Why am I just hearing about this now? If this was a problem throughout, why didn't you say something about it when I specifically asked you?" It puts the responsibility for speaking up back on them, and they have to choose between actively lying to you so they can wallow in their sense of old-timer superiority and actually getting stuff fixed.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

What calli said.

Our wings are not tired.

Good luck with puberty, JZ and Hec.

So not jealous.

Excellent advice, Calli.

I have no opinion on the Tatums.

Coding and Sleeping

Good luck with puberty, JZ and Hec.

Yeah. Those can be tough times.

Calli is smart. I hope something like that is not too onerous to get going, WindSparrow. What a pain.

Today is stupid and I don't like it. Nothing big, just all the frickin' ducks are getting their nibbles in.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yeah. Those can be tough times.

I got her off to school without tears this morning! There was some whining though, but that's to be expected.

brillig

This isn't ominous: a company-wide email titled High Winds, saying "If you own X car, please come to the front desk."

I wonder how bad the damage is.

Punishingly Intricate

ION I may be getting a bicycle. I've been wanting one, but it may be pointless. There are so many hills around here.

I don't know exactly where you are but there are some great rails to trails in your state where the inclines will be gentler than roads. May mean not riding out from your house but will be worth it if it means using your bike!
