You just reminded me... I was attempting to clean out email and came across a notification from LJ that said my account had been deleted. I thought, "Huh? I deleted that ages ago." Now that I've read the email, it looks like they're purging old deleted accounts now but if I had responded within 3 days of the email I could've un-deleted the account. Delete seems to be a fuzzy term.

Facebook does NOT think I'm black, and now I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.
I should check on my abandoned LJ accounts to see if they're still alive.
I feel like I should delete FB but I won't. If I did, I'd lose touch with a few people I don't want to lose. I know they don't want to lose touch with me either, and I know that none of us are really interested in trying to find another way to stay in touch. Because life is complicated, and what we're already doing is easy. I guess basically I feel like -t said. This mess isn't my fault and I don't think that I should have to lose something that's valuable to me to fix it. FB needs to fix it. I will of course be locking down my privacy settings and not taking any more quizzes though. I wonder if they think I'm black? Probably
It's sort of extra funny that Facebook thinks I'm black, because maybe 40% of my posts are about Korean pop music. But Facebook doesn't think I'm Asian. (Youtube sort of does - I get MacDonald's ads in Korean now.)
I'm FB black, too. (I'm also "very liberal" but that's less surprising.)
I'm not being good about articulating my thoughts, but short version: fb algorithms deciding you are black because you give a fuck is an indictment of the whiteness of fb inside. Systemic racism at work in weird but unsurprising ways.
it's probably because we all give a fuck about BLM and racism.
Yep. I'm gonna consider this a badge of giving-a-f**k honor.

I was in a meeting yesterday where someone said her 12-year-old daughter is teaching herself Korean, and I didn't have a chance to ask if it's because of K-pop, but it's totally because of K-pop.

Right there with you. It does apparently think I'm a Republican Millennial, however.
Data collection laws must be very different, because the only things in my profile, beside "Birthday in September" are details on the platforms and devices that I access FB with.
Eve is at the point where she's super annoyed at all the "basic girls" who now like K-pop. She overheard some girls wearing Vineyard Vines talking about BTS in the hallway at school and stopped to correct these total strangers about a factual error. #thatsmykidIguess #someoneiswrongbutnotontheinternet
(I am teaching myself Korean, and it is because of K-pop, but also I kept a diary in dwarf-runes when I was 16 so it's not like this is a new personality trait or anything.)
John Bolton, seriously?
So it's just a matter of time until there's a war with Iran, right?
