Glad the nonsense is ended at least Atropa. I get the lingering Meh.
Aw, I reached out to my contact at JCP and she's so glad to be working with me again. It's so nice! At least everyone who isn't my company's upper management makes me feel like a valuable worker.
So far, all Dad's tests and CT scan have had normal results.
That's good news!
I'm enjoying my new job so far, but DEAR GOD the coffee situation in this office. Not like my old place was a gourmet coffee shop either but at least those pods managed to squeak out a halfway decent espresso. This poor machine gave me half an inch of lukewarm brown water.
I'm sorry, Jessica. That is a trial.
Is a fifty-cent-an-hour raise considered good nowadays?
I mean, it's $1000/year, so not amazing, IMO.
At least everyone who isn't my company's upper management makes me feel like a valuable worker.
That's something!
Got my eyes dilated, so I'm hoping I can actually touch-type, because I can't really see the screen right now....
I said to the eye doctor, "I'm having trouble adjusting between near and far, but is that just because...." He was like, "You can say it" "....I'm old?" Yeah, just because I'm old. I like my sardonic eye doctor.
That bridge collapse in Miami looks scary, Laura. I hope everyone's OK.
It is so scary. The same people did the Tampa Bay huge bridge that I avoid like the plague. Story sharing time. My dad was a civil engineer for the State of NY. Every time we went over a bridge he would say to us, "Remember this bridge was built by the lowest bidder." Thanks for the lifelong bridge fear, Dad! Of course he did quality control stuff and I would trust any bridge he supervised because he was brilliant.
I haven't heard any thing from local peeps on the casualties.
Yay still being employed, Atropa. Yeah, I get the meh.
Lukewarm brown water is a completely unacceptable substitute for espresso. Not. On.
I wouldn't be thrilled with it, Connie. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but not "good" as such.
Fortunately my current wage is sufficient for my needs (praise be).

Had my eyes dilated on Tuesday to get new specs. The prescription will bring them back up to 20/20 - which they haven't been for a while because I was lazy about getting new glasses.
In other glasses news, they fixed my old glasses which snapped in half in the middle. In fact, you can't even see a seam where they fixed it.
I'm to the point where I have a distance vision prescription, a second for computer and a third for reading.
I love my computer glasses! My prescription is the same, I'm pretty sure, but I need new frames anyway. I might just reup the same ones I have, but they are getting crappy-looking.
