First time back in the office since the big windstorm, and one of the rowhouses across from my window has about 3/4 of the roof peeled back, down to the wood decking. I hope they get a tarp up there before this afternoon.

As I walked across the icy parking lot at Walgreens, a slight, petite woman with an Hispanic accent warned me of how slippery it was. She then decided that a warning was not good enough, and rushed over to take my arm to ensure my safety and help me into the store. I am so delighted by the kindness that I have no time to feel old. There are good people in this town.
